Eric will announce this list in the next letter to senior associates, so expect some more people to sign up soon. My intent on creating this list was to create a forum where senior associates could discuss nanotechnology without having to constantly explain the basics or even defend the premise. What I noticed on sci.nanotech was that much of the discussion centered around "newbie" material that presumably us senior associates don't need explained to us :-). So far there are only 4-5 of us on this list, but I expect many more people to join after Eric's announcement. Chris Peterson tells me that there are over 400 senior associates now. I feel like an early adopter! :-) My senior associate form has me as #47 or something like that. To start a little conversation, after the group genius weekend I was thinking it would be handy to develop on a web page a list of films that contain issues that are associated with, or are influenced by, nanotech. For instance, the film "Zardoz" contains the following themes: life extension/immortality, transhumanaphobia (fear of being trans-human), human augmentation, machine intelligence, and probably a few other nanotech-related issues. I imagine that most movies that explore nanotech-related themes will be sci-fi, but others could easily explore issues that will be touched upon by nanotech without being sci-fi. Can you think of others? - -- Legalize Adulthood! ``Ain't it funny that they all fire the pistol, at the wrong end of the race?''--PDBT - - To unsubscribe from associates, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe associates" in the body of the message. There's already a list somewhere on the web that fits the bill. It includes books, too. I can't recall the URL offhand, though. - --Will (Senior Associate number #100, and proud of it. :-) ) William L.
