This is not about who can and cannot enjoy themselves at one of our club outings. This is about what it takes to 'be a member' of the Beehive Beemers. Our by-laws have always required a BMW for initial membership. Here is a couple of proposed methods. Funny, they're on both extremes of the time it would take to get there : 1. Quickest ( less scenic - 570mi ) : Just take Hwy15 from SLC all the way to Butte, MT. In Butte, take Hwy90 to Missoula. 2. Scenic ( 2days - 996mi ) : Take Hwy15 to Brigham City, where you pop onto Hwy89. Take Hwy89 through the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone Natl Park (I have a Golden Eagle pass, so we could go through for free). Pop onto Hwy16/20 going EAST in Yellowstone, to Cody, WY. From Cody, WY, take Hwy 120/72 (Beartooth Pass - MAJOR scenery) to Billings, on Hwy90. Take Hwy90 all the way to Missoula. I'm sure there is a happy medium there too. What way were you planning. I'd like to do Beartooth again (I described it in my story on Sturgis), but it isn't necessary - I could save that for another trip. I agree - it is a specatcular ride. So spectacular, that a group of us are doing the route (but from the direction of Yellowstone) this year, on the way to the Rally. This time, however, I'm pulling over @ the little store called "Top of the World", to get video's. It was EXTREMELY foggy last time, and I can STILL kick myself for not picking up a video. Jeb is heading out later, and is staying in Stanley on the 8th. Tom, Michael, and Thayne. If we're going to take two days to do the ride, do you want to leave on Monday, July 6, or Tuesday, July 7? Michael, if we stay the night in Jackson, Wyoming, do you think we would have time to do Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Beartooth pass, and get all the way to Missoula in a day? According to TripMaker, that will make the trip from Jackson to Missoula 579 mi. Admittedly though, Jackson would be a perfect place to stop, in order to give ample time to wander through the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. It's 268mi from SLC to Jackson, WY, if we go via Hwy 89 (around Bear lake), which is probably more of an afternoon ride, rather than a day ride. I'm open, but we probably should get together, and make some plans. On another note for ALL who are going to Missoula. Should we consider going home all as a group? If so, any suggested routes? We went down Hwy93 last year, and it's a scenic route that takes you through Sawtooth Natl Forest. Very pretty ride. It's about 614mi. Thoughts, anyone?
