It's not as complete as it will be, not by a long shot!, but the first page should give you an idea of how the other pages will look like. Since I'm running low on space on Eskimo to put up more pages there (my Paul Wylie and Jeff Fahey pages take up a good deal of space with all the pictures), I signed up with GeoCities with the idea of making web pages for the GASPers and ASH fans. The first page is at: http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/7728/gaspers.html I would like to thank Cagey and WorstWitch for encouraging to me to make these pages. Now on to my request! - I need - Pictures (of ASH as Giles, of ASH as himself, of ASH as his other characters (Oliver Sampson, Taster's Choice guy, and I would *kill* for a pic of him as Frank-n-Furter! etc). I do have some but not as much as I would like. So if you know of a web page that has a picture of ASH please email me the URL at whtrose@eskimo.com or if you have pictures on your hard drive please email them to me (if you know how) at the same address. If they are your own personal pictures (as in you took them with a camera or even a snappy) I'll give you credit. URLs - Of any pages that mentions ASH in any form (I do know know of most but someone might send me one that I don't have). This includes Buffy sites. Fanfic URL's - of Sites that have stories that have ASH's characters in them (Oliver and Giles), I'm pretty sure I know them all, WorstWitch and Cagey do have a pretty good resource for Buffy and VR.5 fan fic. And anything else ASH and "GIles" related. Hope that some of you can help me! I loved it! I thought it was the best episode since "The Witch." Although "Teacher's Pet" and NKABOTFD *certainly* had their high points, I thought them a bit more stereotyped (i.e. predatory woman and teen girls fighting over a boy--snore). I was really glad to see the series go somewhere different. First, I thought the real horror of this episode, aside from the obvious cannabalistic one, was the whole possession issue. How do you help the possessed without harming him and while still protecting yourself? Also, watching Xander act so un- Xander-like was fascinating, in a horrific sort of way. I was glad that Buffy figured out so quickly that something was wrong, that this wasn't just Xander turning into a 16-year-old boy (although it was a great Giles line). Also, I was *thrilled* that they didn't go for the standard let-the-girl-fall-for-the-act plot when Willow saw through him. Wonderful! Like so many others, too, I greatly enjoyed that the crew realized that they could convey a much deeper sense of horror if they didn't show any gore. The very thought of what they were doing was horrifying; that and the hints of danger were enough to scare. I also love that they raised the sense of danger so much by killing Flutie, although he *was* a great character. As someone else pointed out, he was just so clueless, much like the principal from the Buffy film, who goes around the gym giving out detention slips to the dead vampires--a fun character, but the sense of danger his death has given the show is good, although I *pray* that they don't kill off any of the major characters. Other things I loved in the episode: 1) The great scene where the pack scopes out the school in slow motion, underscored by the music. In fact, the music in *all* of the episodes has been wonderfully done. 2) Willow's reaction to the news of Flutie's death: "Ate him up?" It's so wonderfully child-like. 3) Giles' line: "Testosterone is the great equalizer. It makes all men act like morons." My vote for line of the episode. After all of that, I guess I should go on and introduce myself. I just joined the list on Monday, but I've watched all of the episodes and have been a fan since the film; they're both great. I'm an adjunct English professor (read full-time work, part-time pay and little-to-no benefits; yes, having a Ph.D. has been *soooo* helpful) at a small Southern technical college. I spend *way* too much time watching tv, though. :) One question, too. Someone posted that WGN would be playing Buffy next Monday at 11:30 p.m. My TV Guide (Eastern time) actually lists it as being at 12:30 a.m. Mon/Tues. Anybody know what's going on? How long would it take Buffy to write a thesis? "The Gentle Art of Slaying Vampires in Boots" by Buffy Summers. How many hours of sleep does Buffy need? Where does she get her supply of stakes? How many older brothers does Willow have, and why aren't they beating up on Xander because their sister has a crush on him? Spoiler space for your protection follows: S P O I L E R S P A C E F O R T H E W A R Y I just pause-framed through the preview at the end of The Pack, for next week's episode, Angel. There really is a lot more to see than simply the fascinating shirtless-Angel shots. This is not a complete list, but some of the images we see, in no particular order: Someone opens a refrigerator to reveal storage bags of blood, such as those collected in a blood drive. In the shirtless-Angel shots, Buffy is wearing her cross. Angel is wearing some necklace on a gold chain - oddly enough, the pendant, whatever it may be, is off the screen. It may be a similar cross. Then again, it may not. Angel's back, with a large tattoo that appears to be a bound bird? Anyone have a better opinion about what it is? I suspect its rather important. A skull in negative morphs into the evil blonde vampire from the pilot Angel appears to beat up (or be beaten up by) the blonde female vamp (not certain - difficult to tell who he is fighting) What appears to be a shot taken from The Pack - two hands on one of those half-circle library windows. It rather resembles the hyenas climbing up to spy on Willow. Don't know what this says for the accuracy of the rest of the preview. Angel and Buffy kissing - Angel pulls away, Buffy says "Angel, whats wrong?" He replies "Buffy, I'm sorry" before turning and jumping through a window. (We see this shot from the side - we also see him jump through a glass window from the front, most likely the same shot - I believe we see him dive through an open window later in the preview but it may be the same footage again) In three frames: A page of writing in another language, morphing through a transformation into upside-down, backwards English. The only word I could make out in the English version was 'agent'. Note: At no point does Angel smile wide enough that you can see his upper teeth. Don't know if this means anything. And of course, several shots of fires, of strange bright lights, of people hitting the floor, rings of torches... There was more, but I believe I've listed the most important scenes. Feel free to add to the list. Jen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Apr 1997 23:18:31 -0700 (PDT) From: Sonja Marie Subject: BUFFY: GASPer Website Update! That sort of support coupled with good ratings has made the show something of a hot property for advertisers on SFC even if we were too late to save it from cancellation. If anyone's got addresses on these, drop me a note. I'll put them up on a web page over the weekend. Sharon - -- Sharon A. I was wrong. Looking through some old e-mail (from right before War 2, so we're talking three years ago), I see they were called faction. I guess the difference is that, back then, they were not considered divisive, as so many people seemed to last year. I realize this is not truly Buffy related, but my original post had been, and I wanted the correction on the record. I still prefer the term "affiliations." And we need a good one for Willow. Dryads doesn't do it for me, and I dont think it would describe the male fans, either. What's wrong with just The Willows? Or Willow-fen, if nothing better comes along? For your pennance, you must come up w/ a *good* name for us Willow Watchers -- nothing cutesy, nothing derogatory, no silly acronyms, etc. It must be appropriate for both male & female. It must be rated PG. It cannot have really funky double meanings.
