OR 2)he finishes feeding and looks into the camera with blood all over his mouth 1)from the pilot episode:angel giving buffy the cross in the alley 2)can't remember which episode:when angel gives buffy his leather jacket at the bronze, i think 3)from angel: in the kitchen when buffy was cleaning his wound 4)from angel: when they're in buffy's room kissing(but cuts to next memory before he turns vampire on her) 5)from angel: in the bronze when they're kissing (right after xander says,"as long as their not kissing...") and she walks away and we focus onto the cross burned into angel's skin. xander, willow, and giles are sitting around a tabele with a few of buffy's weapons like the crossbow, stakes, giles's training equipment...they look at the weapons and each other forlornly. giles gets up and paces and asks a few questions. xander and willow just shrug and shake their heads. buffy's in the same position and one tear falls out of her eye as we focus on her face. throughout this entire segment we hear no voices, words, speech, etc. just "angel" by gavin friday(i believe) from the romeo and juliet soundtrack. what do you think? Junior novelisations (sp?) are even worse. If they were to put Buffy into one, the writers would water down the characters and the plots to the point where everyone is one-dimensional and static. As for the junior novelisations, the writers would probably rip off the weird trend of cheesy horror a la RL Stine (who ripped off other greats and didn't do a very good job at it, either) to attract the RL Stine crowd into Buffy. On Wednesday night's CBS Evening News, Class of 2000 segment: The story was about how the portrayal of women on TV affects young girls. It started out with the negative: commercials and shows that give girls the idea they must be pretty, thin, use makeup and dress provacatively. Then it was noted there are more positive female role models than there used to be, and they cited our Buffy much in the same way that TIME magazine did last week. Please forgive me. Hello, I was just curious, has anyone noticed that there appears to be an influx of Vampire related shows on TV/Cable lately? I've discovered most of them on either the Discovery or the Learning Channel. Last night an interesting show was on... it was called "In Search of Dracula." Besides the fact that it covered the where's of Bram Stoker's novel, it also covered the fact that Vampires in traditional folklore are not pale, thin, canine toothed, aristocracy (sp?) ... that in truth they are usually dark, robust, pheasants. Usually whenever there was a vampire outbreak going on, there was also at the same time a deadly disease also going around, ie. the bubonic plague in Europe, Tuberculosis in the United States. That when one person would die of such a disease, that if the "killing" continued the first person who died would be blamed of vampirism, be exhumed from his grave and either be staked, beheaded, cremated or a number of things would be done to it's body. Sometimes it worked other times it did not. I guess this shows ignorance can be a VERY powerful thing. It also covered the history of the TRUE Dracula. Vlad the Impaler of Romanian history fame. The person who drove back the Turks by staking 20,000 turkish prisoners, leaving a forest of rotting corpses behind. Or so they say. What does this have to do with Buffy? I guess not much other than I thought that it was interesting. It's also a good round about advertisment in a way. Here is a show about vampires being slayed by a teenage girl running the Run for the Roses in the May Sweeps, and here are a bunch of shows about vampires, their origins, history, and scientific facts behind vampirism. If you like vampires and these shows are showing on the same nights but at different times you might tune in... I know I did. What can I say? I'm weird like that. Someone posted a number of interesting Wiccan URLs which provided a lot of good information on the subject. I think Joss responded by talking about the fact that she was a *bad* mother, regardless of the fact that she was a witch. Unfortunately, television is full of all types of stereotypes. I appreciate Buffy for the fact that it by and large manages to avoid stereotype and cliche, and though I find the times it fall sinto that trap disappointing, their track record is really pretty good on that score. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of the most refreshing series I've seen in a while, so I can forgive their occasional lapses as long as they remain occasional.
