Are they just trying As I remember - Buffy didn't try to get in good with Cordelia. In fact, if anything it was the opposite. Cordelia came up to meet the new girl, and liked what she saw. But, when Buffy saw what being in Cordelia's group involved (abusing perfectly nice people like Willow), she didn't want anything to do with it. Buffy was just being nice to someone who was nice to her, on her first day of school, before she found out what an interesting attitude Cordelia has towards people. > And let's not forget something > important. Our lovable characters aren't as > stalwart and impervious to social deficiencies as they might appear. > I would also disagree with this point. Willow _does_ do that because she is such a nice and giving person. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body! Cordelia comes up to thank Our Heroes, shows human emotion, and actually looks vulnerable for a few moments. Our Heroes don't really know what to do about it - it wouldn't be nice to just blow her off after she went to the effort of seeking them out - and ask Cordelia if she wants to eat lunch with them, out of a lack of anything better to say. Give her the opportunity to go or not, as she desires. And, if it turns out they have nothing to say to each other, they can concentrate on the food. =) It's a rather common way to get out of an awkward social situation, actually. Sure, Our Heroes have their own social deficiencies. None of them respond in an 'ideal' way to the romantic triangle (quadrangle?) they've gotten themselves into, for example. But the one problem they _don't_ have is any desire to climb over the backs of others into the social limelight. Buffy's been there and decided against it (to paraphrase the movie, 'Up until a few weeks ago, all I ever thought about... well, I didn't think about much of anything. And suddenly, everything that seemed so important seems so stupid! And... and you find yourself babbling incoherently at a strange man in your living room.'), although she misses the effects of it occasionally. All will be happy to know that the Buffy panel at MediaWest was *very* well attended. Yes, we may even see some new list members. :-) I know I gave the e-mail info to a handful of people. Now, about those wonderful promo spoilers for "Prophecy Girl" ... S P O I L E R Misc. observations: Xander was in Angel's apartment!! These two will be so much fun to watch next week. ;-) Buffy was throwing things at Giles, supposedly because his books predict she's going to meet the Master and die. Can we say 'angst'? Buffy and Angel talk. 'Nuff said. Buffy dead? Nope! Here's my take on some of our options: (1) Angel might say "I think" before the clip of "she's dead," (2) it's a dream sequence, (3) Angel is bluffing to save all of them--they're still in the Master's den in the scene, (4) some twisted, Joss-like ending will reveal Buffy's been drugged to induce death... or (5) something similar. :-) End spoilers... What's next? Maytree asked a really good question: what do we want to see happen over the next season(s)? I, for one, will be very happy if Joss and crew keep the scripts fresh and funny. I'm still amazed by the surprise take on the dummy in "The Puppet Show." I think more of the new 22 episodes should be about vampires than other assorted demons (a 12 to 10 ratio maybe), since this is a vampire slayer show. However, there are plenty of great demons to slay...werewolves, wraiths, warlocks, etc. Not to mention, I'd love to see some benevolent entities (e.g., brownies, as someone suggested, or other fairies and maybe leprechauns). I also wonder what the slayerettes might have to do if Buffy became possessed by a demon. There are lots of possibilities. If there are other Hellmouths in the world, does that mean there are other master vamps? If the BtVS movie is in the same timeline as the show, then Lothos was around when the master was. Also because the master has been around so long, don't you think there would be other masters, like Lothos. Maybe they are like the Master Vamps in the Anita Blake series, where they rule a city or an area. They could have a master convention on the show! Also, if there are other masters, how can one slayer fight them? When I turned 16, I went to the Secretary of State right after school. On the other hand, maybe her parent(s) can't afford a car. Also the school could have a no driving policy, but it seems unlikely. In the promo for next weeks' ep, Angel is seen saying "She's dead" about Buffy. I had the strangest feeling that it was a trap for the Master. Having him think she was dead, pulling him close, and having her "wake up." Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, because my other spec is even wierder! Maybe she's dying, Angel "vamps" her, and she goes through life like Angel, not a vampire, not a human, but still fighting the forces of evil! OOOh... scary spec! Terry I'm a FoW! Some have mentioned the "cliff-hanger" scene. However, I don't think this will be the cliff-hanger scene. I have never seen a show were they show the "cliff-hanger" in the teaser. I think the scene will be part-way through the episode. Just my 2 cents, Sai ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 May 1997 13:48:00 -0700 From: "SCOTT WOODARD@warnerbros.com" Subject: Re: BUFFY: summer repeats >Will there be reruns during the summer? >Is this considered syndication? Yes, the reruns will commence the week after 'Prophecy Girl' with 'Welcome To The Hellmouth'. It is not syndication. Syndication is when a program is produced solely for this purpose (Wheel Of Fortune) or is a show that fulfilled a network contract and is now available to other markets (M*A*S*H, etc.) Sometimes, a show can still be on a network (Seinfeld) but has produced enough to assemble a syndication package. Syndicated programs can be purchased by pretty much any one in local markets. >Who do I contact if I want to see the reruns happen? > >I had assumed that I would get the chance to see the reruns of the previous >episodes (since I jumped in at the puppet show) during the summer, but when >I check the listings my local station isnt showing any buffy after the >finale. Well, our WB affiliates are supposed to air Buffy on Monday nights throughout Summer. If they are not, A) let ME know where you are and which station it is, B) Give them a call or write a letter to let them know you want to see Buffy. These two will be so much fun to > watch next week. ;-) I agree! Especially when everyone thinks she's dead....wasn't that Xander looking down on Angel while he was holding Buffy? Of course, that could just be another snip from a different scene. But I would love to see the reactions of everyone in finding Buffy could be dead--espeically Giles. I mean, it's like his nitemare coming true! > What's next? I, for one, will be very happy if > Joss and crew keep the scripts fresh and funny. Ditto here. I was reading TV guide and one of the critics who does a weekly take on different shows gave "Prophecy Girl" an 8 out of 10(?). It says it's PROM TIME but none of them can go because they must fight off a sudden rash of vampires from reaching SHS. I know that David B. is going to be a regular next season, and I know there are a LOT of Angel fans out there--and I have nothing against him--but I hope that Joss deals with Angel being a regular well. I mean, I don't want his presence to disrupt the chemistry among the Slayerettes and Buffy. I've seen shows were new regular characters mean trouble, but I'm counting on Joss to handle it..:) > I also wonder what the slayerettes might have to > do if Buffy became possessed by a demon. There are lots of > possibilities. Now that's a show I would love to see: The Slayerettes against Buffy (for one reason or another). Ack! I remember this! In tenth grade, both my advisor and I were huge fans of this show. It was cool, 'cause we'd talk about the show all the time, and I even lent her a tape of one episode. But it gets canceld before its time! This happens to SO many of my favorite shows. Either they decline in quality (a la DS9) or they get canceled. I keep hoping that Buffy is going to be the show to break the jinx. And if Buffy does decline or get canceled, I'd like to apoligize in advance. - -Terrie Keeper of Angel's Fridge "Grrr, Argh" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 May 1997 17:43:22 -0400 From: Kate Subject: Re: BUFFY: SPOILERS: PROPHECY GIRL At 4:22 PM -0400 5/27/97, LASK3@aol.com wrote: :I :C :A :N :T :W :A :I :T :T :O :S :E :E :N :E :X :T :W :E :E :K : :girl, Someone screames "GILES!!", it looks like Ms. Calendar.
