The Little Buffy Keepers List was designed to go in a special section of the L.B. webpage where people could attach themselves to all those cool things we know the Slayerettes had as kids, but we'll never get to see on the show. If people also want to put those things in their sig quotes they should include "Little Buffy's" or "Little Xander's," etc... before the item's name to avoid confusion. For example, a person should say "Keeper of Little Buffy's Slayer Barbie and Vampire Ken dolls," not just "Slayer Barbie and Vampire Ken dolls" in a sig quote. Giles is a tough one. Maybe "Young Giles" would be the best thing to say for him because I cannot say "Little Giles" without laughing. Sorry that someone has already hit you up for Giles's disco jacket. I'll refrain from posting suggestions like that to the general list in the future and keep them to the page. I have to admit, SM, when I wrote that I pictured you laughing more than anyone else at the image of Giles having these disco clothes and power ties that people have given him over the years gathering dust, being retired to an attic without so much as being tried on. The version of this that I would like to see: Buffy gets called out by the Watchers organization on an emergency basis to take care of a vampire outbreak elsewhere in the country/world. The organization would have to find some lure to make her mother allow her to go; the most obvious would be having her win some sort of magazine contest, since an academic or athletic excuse doesn't seem likely. Meanwhile, while she is out of town... Alternately, I would like to see her sent to the Watchers village in England for a short intense training seminar, or for Giles' extended family to suddenly decide to visit Sunnydale. Although Giles is wonderful in the academic areas of Watcherdom, I strongly suspect that others are better at physical training. After all, who did Giles learn from? This is something I've never understood too. Okay. This is how I understand things. Although the Watchers and others have indoctrinated the Slayer with this whole poncey "there can be only one every generation only one girl born with the skill and strength to hunt the vampires" spiel, that clearly doesn't reflect Buffy's understanding in PG, "one slayer dies, the next is called." For an answer we can look at the novelization of the movie based on Joss' script, and he tells us that there are several girls at any one time who can be the slayer, but only one is "chosen" because of her exceptionalness or proximity to evil, whatever. When she dies, one of these other girls is called to be the slayer, and thus the line continues without break. I'm not sure what Joss may have retconned in this theory, however, but it does offer one possible explanation for Buffy's increased power after she's revived: she succeeds herself as the Slayer. Also, something no one's mentioned (at least that I've seen) in our discussions of retconning between the movie and the series (Buffy's age, year in school, where's Pike?, etc.): Buffy's mom is totally different (i mean, psychologically) from the movie too. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 1997 08:25:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Uri Gal Subject: Re: BUFFY: Hellmouth location(very very mild spoiler for Prophecy Girl) On Tue, 10 Jun 1997, Brian Lewis wrote: > Yesterday on Buffy I realized something. I'm speculating, of course, that Colin may actually be more of a nemesis for Buffy. He can hide behind his innocent face, much like Anne Rice's Claudia. With all this talk about the promos, I just thought I'd tell you that we all had a really good time doing those. Nicholas, Alyson, Sarah and David were all on-hand to dance their hearts out and spirits were high. David was perpetually surrounded by young girls (I mean young, as in the daughters of the execs) but he handled it extremely well. He is a terrific guy. Incredibly nice and very friendly. The rest of the group enjoyed each other's company and we all had a really terrific time. The shoot itself was done from sundown to sunup over a single weekend (two nights), and even here in California, the nights can get chilly. I have a photo of David and Sarah from the shoot tacked up to one of my cabinets next to me. My last post to the list didn't go through and I don't want to start babbling w/o introing myself. I'm Kim Sefcik, known on the Net as kimmie, and a lover of all things sci-fi, dramatic or all-around cool. Been a Buffy-lover since the hyena ep (first ep I saw) and a drooler for all things Xander, Angel and Giles (sigh). Cassandra sed: >IMO, Buffy is stronger after facing the Master because she faced her >greatest fear and survived - Death and the Master. Also, she died, thus >fulfilling the prophecy, but was "re-born", starting her own little >prophecy/destiny. I agree with the person (sorry, I forgot who) who said >that Buffy was now fully a slayer. She wasn't in denial or partial denial. >She accepted her destiny (dying), fulfilled, and then lived. I'd say that >that would build a girl's confidence, wouldn't you? Then what about all the Slayers that came before her? I'm assuming that there aren't any records of this happening to them 'cause if there were, this wouldn't have been a big issue: Giles: When you go to face the Master, Buffy, the Codex say's you're going to die. Buffy: What? But I'm only 16... I don't want to die. Giles: Don't worry. After he kills you, you'll come back and be a real Slayer. Buffy: Cool. I won't have to give all my stuff to the Keepers then. Personally, I like "real-Slayer" theory... but that would mean that none of the Slayers before Buff were "real" Slayers and in full command of their powers. I think that this new-found strength, etc. Is going to come with a price. I dunno - maybe I've just been watching too much FK (can you picture LaCroix and Buffy together? ;-) but something weird is going on. Then again, this was Apocolyptic stuff, so maybe the normal rules of the universe just took a running jump out the window. Maybe having a Master killing a Slayer did something to Buffy's abilities. But you'd think that Slayers have been killed by Masters before. (and vice-versa) ARGH! I just hope the Joss explains this. Or at least gives us more pieces to the puzzle. (just watch it turn out to be a kick-ass 1000 piece one) ;-) kimmie ________ Kim Sefcik, Richie Reservist, MFWC, PWFC Wombat Extraordinare, GASPer Chancer, Cousin, EEL and Yet Another Bleepin' X-Phile "I am Richie Ryan of the Clan... wait, can we try that again?" ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 1997 14:50:12 -0600 From: kmasters@rof.net Subject: BUFFY: Inside Edition Anybody have a tape of Inside Edition? Here we go... Possible Titles: "Toons", "Animation Creation". A mischief demon sets up shop on the Hellmouth, and begins to pull Sunnydale into his world. It starts with cartoons coming to life, leaping off the screen and running amok, and culminates when all of Sunnydale and its residents are pulled into the animated world, becoming living cartoons. I can just see the one-liners now (Xander: "People've always said I was animated, but *this* is ridiculous!") Of course the lunacy ends when Buffy and Co. manage to trick the demon into leaving the Hellmouth. With the Warner Brothers animation studios, it could be done. Tell me it wouldn't be cool! It'd allow for all the things that have been missing in BtVS: Anvils, Sledgehammers, High-Grade Explosives, and Wild Takes. I can see Xander's eyes shooting out of his head as we speak... OK, it'd be goofy, but I'd pay to see it! - --Viashino-- "It must inordinately trying to be such a boob." If it was a photo taken out on the street, that would be one thing, but this was taken during our shoot on our backlot. You can even see our show neon signs in the background.
