My feeling is that the police investigations are going on off-scene, while the focus of the show remains on Buffy. It would be interesting if one of those investigations ever brought in Buffy and the Slayerettes. After all, there is now a new skeleton lying on the floor of the library at the end of Prophecy Girl. During Teacher's Pet, there was a counseling session for those who saw the body of the science teacher hanging in the kitchen refrigerator, one of the few times that we saw the reaction of the outside world to the happenings in Buffy's world. For those who are interested in cross-over ideas, I have thought that FBI agents Mulder and Scully could come to town to investigate the weird paranormal activities going on in Sunnydale, which are certainly weird enough to merit incluseion in The X-Files. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 1997 20:16:17 -0400 From: Kristy Garvey Subject: Re: BUFFY: Xander At 02:53 PM 7/16/97 +0000, you wrote: >> >wow nicole...i caertainly hope not...i think i speak for all the >> >females on >> >this mailer when i say,"Angel...mmmmmmmm" > >> I beg to differ with that. The hour draweth near. I'm leaving tomorrow mid-day, so we don't have a lot of time to work this out. Joss's event is on Saturday at 3:30pm in room 6ABCF. They expect a huge crowd because he's showing clips from Aliens 4 too. So it's limited seating, only 3000 people (*only* 3000?). You must get tickets (free with Con admission) in advance in room 6A. I plan to be in the room at least by 2:30 if I can, if not sooner. How will we know each other? Since we cannot agree on a name yet, how about if we wear small discrete handmade buttons or tags that indicate what list(s) we're from, XMISSION, or PLANETX. The general public won't know what this means so it won't tip your hand if you're going stealth. It's possible that there are other fan lists on either xmission or planetx servers who might also be at ComicCon, but I doubt they'll think to wear such buttons. Let's sit as close to the front of the room as possible (obviously) to spot buttons, Joss, Nick, Alyson, etc... Maybe we can try to hover near the stage afterwards too for more scanning of buttons, etc.... We can make arrangements once we meet to do other things, like food, other panels, etc... Does this sound like a plan? Are you all with me on this? I look forward to finally meeting some of you, I think ;> Lisa ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 1997 21:08:27 -0400 (EDT) From: Monet Subject: Re: BUFFY: Misc. thoughts Hmmm...who to bring home to mom and dad. Wah...:( As for friends, heck, why not all of them? Even Giles :) Quick question: When Buffy (in "WttH") tries to follow Willow and Thomas through the Bronze, and Cordelia taps Buffy on the shoulder, causing Buffy to react and grab Cordy by the neck, did Buffy actually PICK UP Cordelia off the ground or just held her against the wall? Yes, it's unclear when she was born, but in the last episode (Prophecy Girl), she does say she's 16. "I'm only 16 Giles, I don't want to die." or words to that effect. So that pretty much eliminates the 5/6/79 entry. From what I've heard, that screen with her as a senior was an inside joke for those that saw the movie. I think that when we watch Buffy and Xena, and get all involved in emailing and thinking about the episodes, it is sort of like having a dream about how we are going to solve a certain problem. But as yet it isn't out in the open what the problem is. So out of our dream, we develop a technology, only I think it's an inner technology, a way of doing things differently with our mind. Theree's a BIG difference here. Witchcraft is part of a religion: it's a religious ceremony, calling on some sort of divine powers to aid the castor. You can't simply mix eye of newt and other stuff and have a casting work. It requires faith and discipline. It's the same difference as medical healing and faith healing. I think the scene where Buffy, Willow and Xander create a concoction in science lab to spill on Amy is sort of misleading. I don't think they were casting a spell; I believe that they were using various components as a sort of litmus test. Those components would react with various magicks still assocaited with the witch right after spellcasting to turn her skin blue. At least, that's my angle on the thing. I do know that without faith, spellcasting is simply a smelly, gooky mess that does nothing more than destroy a good cauldron. Have fun at the ComicCon everyone who is able to go!
