Yeah, there's this unwritten rule a lot of women have (and I'm making no comments about men, mostly because I don't know if this is the case for them or not) that says if your friend likes someone, you keep your hands off, because she has dibs. If Buffy were pursuing Xander, which we don't know from the promo, which, despite the number of times I watched it, contained ambiguity, then she'd be breaking faith in her frienship with Willow. You know, that's a bad thing to do to a friend (and a future Watcher). > Oh, yeah, I agree that Buffy would be bad in that situation. You're > assuming that Buffy doesn't really like Xander, but "pursues" him anyway. I'm guessing that Buffy's dealing with the fact that she died in PG. That's a major thing to have happen to you, especially when you're sixteen and a not very normal sixteen anyway. You're already having problems with dealing with life--you've got vampires compounded on top of the normal problems of your age. Xander's a friend, he's there, and he has a major crush on her. I think she's totally dealing. > I assume Buffy doesn't want Xander, but she has to decide that on her > own, not by hiding behind Willow's feelings. I don't think she's hiding in the least. She's always been a very honest and straightforward person. If she liked Xander, she'd let him know. However, she's got a thing for Angel (and I can totally understand *that* one, you realize...) > Of course, we already know that Willow will get a boyfriend this season, > and it won't be Xander. We are now keenly asking if Angel could father a child. But have we ever asked if Angel could make a person into a vampire at this point? (besides speculative fanfic accounts). The demon doesn't own Angel anymore. If Angel did the "whole big sucking thing" with someone else, would that person still become physically vampirized? If so, would he or she still be owned by the demon that once owned Angel's body? Or would the current presence of Angel's "good" soul prevent such a possession from taking place, leaving only the physical effects of vampirism, as with Angel? Surely, this must have come up before. It's an original question. To my knowledge, at least. I think I've been on here since the second episode aired. Hmm. Bound for the Undead list, but meanwhile... I don't think Angel *would* voluntarily convert someone to being a vampire. He probably doesn't know what would happen, and he wouldn't want to inflict his 'curse' on anyone else. Even if the converted person maintained their soul, they'd have to deal with bloodlust, etc, and that would probably get very nasty. Although, this *does* lead the way for some interesteing ideas, such as a main character being at/near death and Angel possibly bringing them over to save them, or the agony of choosing to/not to do so. I am also well beyond High School with a "real life" ie: child, husband, house, job, and my friends that watch BtVS are also of my age group. I just watched Puppet Show again today and I LOVE the part where "Sid" makes a suggestive comment to Willow and Xander says "HEY!" IT was so CUTE! So that leads me to......#3. I know there is a debate going on about all this, and I am just one more who speaks from experience, having your best friend and the object of your affection get together hurts like hell, but isn't that kinda the point of BtVS....the Hell we all go through in HS. And you can see by the number of people that have commented that it is obviously a common occurence. I am totally into the idea of Xander and Willow getting together, but I think that unless Willow eventually says something, Xander will remain clueless as to her feelings and therefore will not understand that he is hurting her by getting together with Buffy. Which leads me to....#4. The episode is called "When she was Bad"...so I think Buffy may do some things that hurt her friends, but most episodes of BtVS have a ending which ties up the episodic problems...so I think that by the end of WSwB....she won't be anymore. Okay....that's it for now because this is longer than I intended. I'll do more later. Someone said that the season ender for Buffy didn't have the typical cliffhanger ending, I would like to applaud the writers for this, because whereas they were probably seriously hoping for a "season premire" to clear up any unanswered questions, they knew that it was possible that there wasn't going to be one and they didn't leave us all feeling yucky with a lot of unanswered questions. For example, the first season of "Sliders" ended with this major cliffhanger and then they were not brought back until much later as a mid season replacement, and by then I didn't care enough to watch. Also I have just seen the one promo, not the rollercoaster one and definately not one where Buffy tells Angel that she has moved on to the living. But the only time I watch WB is on Monday nights for BtVS. Last thing.....just wanted to say that last night in the WB aol chat room, the two hosts had never seen BtVS and by the end of the hour both had promised to be new faithful watchers. Now I am not giving myself any direct credit for this gain of new watchers, because there were several devoted Buffy fans in there.....just wanted to give a "new viewer update" Later Ya'll Brittany Britt1975@aol.com BTW I think the idea of Xmission profile page is pretty cool....does anyone even know how many of us there are? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Sep 1997 22:37:52 -0400 (EDT) From: Britt1975@aol.com Subject: BUFFY: Willow on The Torkelsons There is a great family show on the Disney Channel called "The Torkelsons". If you're uns*bscribed for a reason other than bounced mail, we will ALWAYS notify you of this-- so if you get uns*bscribed and never got notified, your mail was probably bouncing. If you're unsure of how to s*bscribe to digest, read the list rules you received when you s*bscribed. There are instructions in there. Thanks... we've got a full slate of 22 episodes

Speaking from a 'historical' point of view: vampires can 'father' children. In folklore it happened all the time. There is even a special name for the offspring: dhampire. They were especially adept at spotting and destroying regular vampires. In fact, they were often considered not all bad, even if they did have to drink blood. Modern fiction has emasculated vampires but in the old days the vampire was as feared for what he might leave behind as for what he might take. Should Buffy decide that she would like to date Xander, I would think she would need Willow's permission first as Willow had already expressed an interest in Xander boy. (I had a friend in college who was terrified of asking a cute guy out just because one of her friends had made some offhand remark that he was cute.) There's something similar amongst men, but I sense it isn't as strong. And certainly the concept of rivalry is not unknown in the Buffyverse, Cordelia vs. Buffy for Owen, Xander vs. Angel for Buffy, and a very subtle Buffy vs. Willow for Xander, etc. I would certainly like see a more blatant Buffy vs. Willow competition, if only briefly (it certainly would be an excellent marker of Willow's growth to see her take an evil Buffy in WSWB to task.) Frankly, I would rather see Xander wind up with Willow or Cordelia. Just like I can't imagine what Buffy and Angel could possibly talk about beyond work, I likewise really can't imagine Xander and Buffy enjoying the "magical mundane" (as someone on the list whose name I forget so aptly put it once). Also, I get a very strong sense that Xander would try too hard to keep Buffy if they ever got together, quickly leading to scary Glenn-Close "I will not be ignored" sequences that would disturb Xand-fans. As for the Xander/Cordelia hook-up, I think that their fierce banter is only sublimated passion waiting for the tiniest spark to ignite a blazing flame, ultimately leading to multiple, satiated violations of Joss' antismoking proscription. BTW, I find it delicious that we've already abbreviated When She Was Bad into the casual WSWB, and we have no idea what it's about! Foxworld's FAQ still lists it as a mid-season (possibly December) return. I was basing my conclusion on circumstantial evidence and some rumored skullduggery at Fox, but I may have jumped the gun on that (I was just feeling *so* sorry for those poor displaced Roar fans because their fandom was reminding me strangely of ours). ObBuffy: What happened to the Cordelia Keepers Page? The link from the Ultimate Keepers Page and the FAQ (via Violet Starr's page) is dead. I checked a couple of the big BtVS links sites, but found no current Cordy Keeper Page URL. Violet Starr, are you still handling the Cordy keepers? If not, is someone else?
