Are you as excited as I, that next Monday WB will air "Prophecy Girl"? Obviously, the Master did not kill Buffy. After feeding on the Slayer, he must have been so excited about escaping his prison, that he did not drain all of her blood. The drowning, in a muddy pool was real. Therefore Xander was able to resuscitate Buffy. Too bad that's the closest his lips will get to her's. It was the German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzsche, who said:"That which does not kill me, makes me stronger". This would explain Buffy's heightened senses, in knowing exactly where the Master would be. What will the new season bring? And why not? If Joss can be this creative and in depth with his characters, I'm sure he can change them (permanently or temporarily) with just as much dexterity. I vote against it being a dream because we've been there done that- and now that Xander knows that Buffy is not "into him"- it would just be sad to watch. Hey all you - I've finally gotten around to starting on the BTVS xmission shirts. I will repost this order form at *least* once a week until the deadline. Below is a order form and description of the shirts. I've tried to keep them as simple as possible to keep the cost down (the price of shirts has gone up lately). Also, I have a tendency to round numbers up and make things a touch too expensive - this is because in the past I've had surprise costs and had to use my own money to pay for shirts. In this case, any funds left over will go towards the sending the cast shirts (see below). Also, in the "options" section below, the top-ten list requires a separate screen. If I do not get enough orders to pay for this option, I will contact you to find out if you'd like personalization done or have a refund of $2.50. However, I don't anticipate this being a problem. The deadline for receiving orders is going to be *******Saturday, Sept. 15, 1997******* so that I can place the order on Tuesday. If, for any reason, you can't have your order to me by then, email me and I'll see if we can't work something out. Also, I would like to send shirts to as many people on the Buffy production staff that I'm able to (I'll start with Joss, then go to SMG, etc, etc). If you would like to include an extra dollar or so to help, that would be appreciated. It took me virtually the entire summer to locate a store that carried it (Crow's Nest in Chicago). They only had two copies, so there's still one left there. The album absolutely rocks, so be sure to check it out. I also identified the FIFTH song from Sprung Monkey in the first season of BTVS. It's from "The Harvest" as well. You can find all the song-specific info at Domain of the Slain (URL below). Chances are it might not make it in time for their Fall Catalog, but probably for sure in the Winter edition. HOPEFULLY, they will produce a series of BtVS/READ posters. I have mentioned this previously that Anthony Head who plays Giles represents a one-of-a-kind tv character in his portrayal of a librarian who is an intellectual hero that utilizes the library to solve mysteries. So, maybe they'll do a READ poster featuring Buffy and the gang and then maybe later on some more focusing in on certain characters like Giles. BTW, I wrote Anthony Head telling him that he is a classy guy and actor and that he would make a fantastic spokesman/model for the ALA. I'd like to think that act he does on the show isn't just an act and that he is genuinely interested in promoting literacy here and around the world. funee ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Sep 1997 14:45:58 -0700 (PDT) From: Andrew Wagster Subject: Re: BUFFY: AOL News section On Wed, 3 Sep 1997 PalOBuffys@aol.com wrote: > Thoughts, anyone? > 13 days 'till Buffy!!!!!!!!! They quoted Joss directly as saying that the "love quadrangle (between Buffy, Angel, Willow and Xander) is going to get as messy as it possibly can" (paraphrased, due to my lousy memory). I think things are going to be a little more like "Angel", is all. It's times like this that make me wish I had a time machine so I could zip ahead two weeks and make sure everything's fine. That's kinda pathetic, huh? Time machine, able to do anything, and I'd use it to see the new season premiere. |Andrew Wagster| |---------------------------------------------------------------------- | "Oh, look at me! For its new marketing campaign, this year, the WB Network's critically acclaimed action hour will be referred to as "Buffy," which will push the softer, more romantic story lines that will debut this season. Although there is a new positioning of the show, executives insist its official name isn't changing. New episodes of the cult series start Sept. 15. "It's sort of a slang name of the show," said Lou Goldstein, co-head of marketing for the WB. "It's sort of marketing slang. It's what happens to any show that becomes a hit that has taken on a whole other mystique." He said it's similar to what happened with shows such as "Beverly Hills, 90210," which has unofficially been called "90210" by almost everyone. Goldstein said "Buffy" - which has been primarily filled with storylines of suspense and action in its first season - will shift gears to more romantic themes, especially with Angel, Buffy's vampire friend. The goal of the campaign, he said is to get more women to watch the show, starring Michelle Gellar, giving it a broader appeal. Bob Bibb, co-head of marketing for the WB, said some people were initially turned off to the show because the 1992 movie of the same name was a campy affair and didn't do well at the boxoffice. But Goldstein said the network couldn't debut an unknown show with just the plain, nondescript moniker "Buffy." Let me just say this for the sake of everyone out here who's a little worried about this: This "official" word comes from the co-head of marketing for the WB. Co-head? I think not. Fat-head seems more... appropriate. This guy doesn't work for the show, he works for the network that signed the contracts for a bunch of *really* bad comedies. I'll believe it when I see it. I doubt that Joss is going to let the show go to hell like this... |Andrew Wagster| |---------------------------------------------------------------------- | "Oh, look at me! I'm making people happy! I doubt that Joss is >going to let the show go to hell like this... I don't think they are saying that they are going to base the SHOW on the romantic stuff. They are just basing the LOGO on romantic stuff because everyone who likes the horror of it all saw "THE VAMPIRE SLAYER" part of the logo and attracted them to the show, so now they have us hooked. Now that we are hooked, they are going to focus on people who like the romantic parts, so they'll be hooked. They aren't going to base the show on romantic stuff, but emphasize it. Just because they emphasize it doesn't mean they will show less of the horror/action stuff. _____________________________________________________________________ Sent by RocketMail.
