I've benn doing some vamp research, and according to the Vampire Almanac, Gypsies and southern Slavs believed that the male offspring of a vampire and a human female was called a dhampir. The dhampir often became a semi-professional vampire hunter for the community. Because he possessed some of his father's genes, a dhampir could sniff out the presence of a vampire. And the off-spring of a slayer and a vampire would probably be even more powerful. Other hunters include the djadadjii, a bulgarian that bottled vampires, and the Sabbatarians, anyone born on a Saturday and had great influence over vamps and could lure them into traps. S P O I L E R S The principal and the police chief 'know' what's going on. Makes sense, the locals, especially those in power would know and try to keep it secret over the years. If the "Boca del Infierno" has been there from the time of the Spanish Conquest all the long-time families probably know. Only question is: Have they figured out about Buffy? Then again, did city hall have a deal with the Annoying One? Talk about a special interest group. Loved Angel's ruse, I was almost hoping that he was telling Spike the truth. I do hope we find out just how bad he really was. Preta preta@earthlink.net ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Sep 1997 21:01:37 -0600 From: "Jason L. Does that mean he knows about Buffy the Slayer? OK, in my opinion I think he said "tell them the truth" because of all the incidents that have happened at Sunnydale. You would have to be blind to the facts if you just ignored everything that was going on around you. All the kids dying, etc... There has to be some logical explanation and I don't think "School gangs on PCP" accounts for everything! She was a ditz and I didn't like her at all, she was more annoying than anything else. Why would Spike be hanging out with her? Must be something more than being a vampire. And what was that about being weak? Why is she weak?? I loved Xanders line in the libray about whittling and whistling, > I don't know what it was exactly so someone send it to me. But, there was one thing that really irritated me! The death of the annointed one! What was up with that!? True, he didn't have a huge part in the series, BUT, I enjoyed his character. He added a lot to the show. I REALLY hope that somehow they bring him back so that he may have revenge upon Spike! Other than that I must say that Spike was cool as heck, great work with his script! I think he will add a lot to the story and the neverending battle of Buffy vs. Evil. I only had a small criticism on this episode and that was on the lack of time spent with crucial characters. Angel was only in the episode for what, maybe 3-4 minutes total, Cordelia for about 2-3 minutes, Willow only for a few minutes and same with Xander. The character interaction in this episode was kinda half hearted if you ask me... Anyhow, any comments?? Back to the list after a break of just lurking. Now, down to business..... I have mixed feelings about this episode. On one hand I loved it. I loved Spike and Drucilla. They're really cool, and Drucilla is WAY frieky. I loved the ending with Xander and Angel when Xander said something like "what if he bit me" and Angel says "then we would have known". LOL! (Forgive me if I haven't got these quotes right..... I only got a chance to watch if once so far. That can be remedied easily though....) I loved Spike's accent. The fight scenes between Buffy and Spike were great. But on the other hand, there are some things that bother me. Buffy's mom accepts Buffy going to fight those "gang members" way to easily. What's up with Principal Snyder's quote on "the truth." Also, and my biggest complaint, was that I thought this episode was lacking in Angel... but coming from me.... No, seriously though, I would have liked to see a little bit more interaction between Spike and Angel. I don't know. This is the first time this has ever happened to me before, being so torn between an episode. Part of me thought it was GREAT, while the other part of me thought it had too many holes. I did enjoy it a lot though, (I'm just one big contradiction aren't I?) and can't wait until next Monday. I plan on watching this episode *several* more times. A lot of Christian religious references in this episode. The reference to the Crusifixion in the beginning with Spike, "The Annoying One" and the other vamps. And then Cordelia praying at the end to God. I think there were a couple others, but these are the ones that spring to mind. I had so much more to write, but I'm starting to nod off here and I've got to be up to 5:45 tomorrow, so I'll be back again then. This is all I can think of at the moment. Can't wait to read more reactions to this ep. sharon ruth (LStew10263@aol.com) Proud member of Buffaholics Annonymous Proud Member of the DC/Metro Area Buffy the Vampire Slayer Crew ------------------------------ End of buffy Digest V1 #333 *************************** To subscribe to buffy Digest, send the command: subscribe buffy-digest in the body of a message to "majordomo@xmission.com".
