In WttH, when Xander kills Jesse we get a good shot of his empty hand. But in WSWB, when she did that double thing and burned one vampire and staked the other, she dropped the stick to the ground before she picked up the sledge hammer. And in SH, she killed the vampire who was trying to axe his way through the door and then we get a good shadow shot of her with a tsake in her hand. She didn't have time to pull another one out, so I'm assuming it's the same one. And what about the times when she uses trees and tables instead of stakes? For instance, in IG when Cordelia said that thing about Buffy attacking her in the Bronze, she went on to say something about the school not letting weirdos like that in. But CC said she was saying something about reliving it every time she saw a pencil. Which would have been funny, but it wasn't what she said. Below is my letter to kick off the campaign... To: Georgia Scott/Publicity/Universal Studios (e-mail:gkscott@universal studios.com) CC: Scott Woodard/Publicity/Warner Brothers (e-mail: scott_woodard@warnerbrothers.com)Hi...Scott, perhaps you remember me from the Buffy/American Library Association READ poster letter writing campaign. I am starting another letter writing campaign, this time concerning the possible crossover appearances between two of the hottest series on tv today: Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Xena: Warrior Princess. As you may know, Sarah Michelle Gellar who plays Buffy, has been quoted as saying that she is a big fan of Xena and would love to see crossover appearances between the two shows. Buffy like Xena is a female hero who battles the forces of Evil each week, victoriously triumphing due (again like Xena) to her indominatable spirit, fighting skills, intelligence and the aid of friends/sidekicks. Both Xena and Buffy also have something in common as far as specific foes are concerned. Xena has killed dozens of vampiric Bacchites (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun) and thus there is certainly a logical connection there. Xena might be considered a predecessor to Buffy in the long tradition of Slayers. However, there are many more logical connections and common grounds between Buffy and Xena. Both know what it means to bear the responsibility of saving the world. Both know how lonely a job being a hero truly is. Both are strong female character possessed of extraordinary fighting skills, intelligence, courage, creativity, compassion, etc. THESE TWO GIRLS HAVE TO GET TOGETHER! Although Xena lives somewhere in the 1st century and Buffy is in the 20th century a time portal, act of the gods or Fates, dream fantasy, or some other device writers of both shows come up with could provide a means of getting the two heroines together. As you are well aware the XWP writing staff are incredibly creative. Liz Friedman, Steven Sears, Rob Tapert, etc. have done magnificent jobs so far. The BtVS creative team headed by writer director Joss Whedon are equally gifted. Ratings of both shows point to their present and continuing success. A combined creative effort between these two shows would be simply wonderful and I've found that there are legions of tv viewers who are fans of both shows and would love to see it happen. Can you help us make it happen by getting our thoughts before the tv execs, Rob Tapert, Liz Friedman, Steven Sears, Joss Whedon, and stars, Lucy Lawless and Sarah Gellar, of both shows? Thanks for your attention and assistance in this matter.Mike (humorist@juno.com) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Oct 1997 14:09:08 -0400 From: garundel@bserv.com (garundel) Subject: BUFFY: Why was she bad? I guess clubs where you live are different but I've never seen anyone doing their homework at a club before. A loud club with a live band and everyone socializing doesn't seem like a great place to study to me. And it obviously wasn't since she only got 12 minutes of studying done, even though I doubt she was focused the entire 12 minutes. Do you think that the time she was studying French at the Bronze will help her pass French? > And that not popular comment really pisses me off. > How old are you? Your obviously old because a teenager would never have > made a comment like that unless there shallow. And not very many teens > smoke, FYI. Only a handful. You are a very stereotypical person. Point taken. Maybe it is stereotypical to say something like that, but it's also true for the most part. I'm assuminh you're in high school, so let me ask you, how many kids do you know that do that and still have great social lives? Sure there's nothing wrong with it, I agree (even though it's a stupid idea), but there are always going to be people who will make fun of someone for studying at a club. And being made fun of doesn't increase your popularity. If I had been at the Bronze that night I would have started laughing at her because it's just plain idiotic. Would you go to the library to party? Not very many teens smoke?! Okay, now it's my turn to say pay attention. Three-quarters of the adults who currently smoke started their habit before the age of 21. Each day, 3,000 children smoke their first cigarette, that's more than one million annually. At least 3.1 million adolescents are current smokers. I realize that Sunnydale is a fictional town, but in any town I'd be willing to say that there is a large teenage smoking population. Maybe being situated on top of the Hellmouth has something to do with being at a club where no one is smoking and people are doing their homework, it just seems strange to me. Anyway, I believe it is Giles, peering out through the round window of the library door. He can be seen ushering Principal Snyder and the others into the library through that door a little while later, after Buffy escorts them out of the room in which they were hiding. I also don't know much bout art galleries but i believe that for the most part there open during the days and closed at nights except for when there doing a show, which would hinder Joyce and a Vamp getting together, but hey what do i know, just a thought ~FROGG!E~ ~!~ Keeper of Buffy's blades Keeper of Willow's blades ewol@stn.net - ---------------------------------------------------- - -- Two skaters collide, and the world goes on! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 04 Oct 97 20:21:55 -0700 From: Susan Foster Subject: BUFFY: Clothes question Yep, here's a question that has been on my mind. We saw Buffy holding up clothes in WTTH when she was trying to decide what to wear to the Bronze (the whole "hello, I'm an enormous slut" thing). We also saw her with Willow and Xander holding up clothes in NKAB ("the ear flaps bring out your eyes"). AND, in WSWB, her dad is holding up a lovely pair of yellow shoes when he is unpacking Buffy's stuff from her LA trip. My question is, do you think we will ever see Buffy wearing these outfits? Yes, I know it is a really strange question. I was just thinking that the black dress she was holding up in WTTH didn't seem to me to be a real Buffy outfit, she doesn't go that far, and the other dress is definitely not Buffy-wear, so I was just wondering... On a side note, check out the sweater Jenny wears in PG, and then look at the one Willow has around her waist when Buffy first talks to her in WTTH. Same one. Good wardrobe recycling! Oh, and on a non-clothing note. I got my mom to watch SAR with my dad and I when it was on a couple weeks ago, then they went on a trip to Bermuda. When they came back, I asked my dad if he wanted to watch SHD with me, because they had been away. Turns out, when they were down in Bermuda, they watched it on the TV station down there! Now, my dad does not normally stay up later than ten, but the show was on at 10 down there, so they stayed awake to watch it. These are my 52 year old parents! Now that is cool. He also stayed to watch it with me again on tape today. I have converted two to watching, and have had three promise me they will try to catch it. We are spreading! Yay! I think Giles is still in the Library, isn't he? It wasn't until AFTER that vamp was gone that Giles lead Joyce and the rest out, right? Plus, the helpful voice came from behind a door that is identical to the library door. My only problem with thinking that it's Giles is that it doesn't *sound* like him. It doesn't sound like Giles. I don't know, Giles sounded a little off to me the entire episode. Wasn't that him also behind the bookstacks encouraging everyone to go? When Joyce was looking concerned? That definitely did not sound like Giles. Although, my perception may be biased, because there was definitely not enough Giles in the episode. The vamp in the middle pic is one we saw in SHD. I remember him because of his eyes, they look so huge. I think he is the one who is telling Spike he doesn't know which way Buffy went. He also is the one who gets his head bashed into the ax case. Speaking of axes, does anyone else think it is strange that they keep an ax in the school? Yes, I know, in case of fire, blah, blah, blah. All I am saying that in my school all we had was fire extinguishers, that I can recall. My school didn't care about us? Maybe. All I know is, that ax is getting a lot of use. First Amy/Catherine, and now Joyce. If I was in charge of that school, I would try to find a way to keep the ax in a better place. Then again, if I knew that one of my students was accused of burning down her last school, I would do my best to keep up with fire safety! Daily fire drills, anyone? Allright, at the risk at getting "corrected" again by the same person, the closed caption said (Giles): "Watch out, Buffy." The tv showed the round window of the library and glint off of Giles's glasses. So it would have to be Giles. It fits.
