Service Merchandise sells them (low quality), or you could try an Irish import shop if there's one in your area. I got mine at a now-closed shop in Atlanta, and there's a shop in Savannah on Bull St. that has them or can special order. Check catalogs, too. Mine is my wedding ring. I had heard that the tradition was for mothers to give them to their daughters. Where do you guys get the titles for the episodes? They're not on the program, but I'd like to get them. Is it my imagination, or do people seem more comfortable talking about werewolves than vampires? Buffy and Giles, speak with stranger Caine matter-of-factly about them as though they are talking about a mountain lion (Buffy even introduces the topic). Oz speaks casually with his family as though they are discussing his cousin's diabetes. Do the Slayerettes have any other mortals they can discuss vamps that easily with? 2. Many didn't like Giles's Moon Pie laughter, but I thought it was adorable. I like it when he gets unexpectedly giddy (the poor guy needs a break from his seriousness and so do I). It makes sense to me too. Unlike the others, he barely even got the joke (Moon Pies are an American regionalism). When he did, he was probably struck by the absurdity of comparing something as crass and base as Moon Pies (in his opinion) to something as fascinating as werewolves ("one of the classics"), so he laughed. 3. Speaking of "one of the classics," how cute was it when he was so excited to rush off and bury himself in books to read up on werewolves at the start of the ep? 4. And speaking of cute, how cute was Aly's comment that she was happy to finally get a "Merowww!" (catty remark feedback) from Buffy? Poor Willow has been cattiness-deprived all these years! Such a nice girl.... 5. Speaking again of Giles, I can't help but think the disappearing glasses are an attempt to show off his heroic, naked-faced handsomeness at strategic moments for emphasis. I mean, come on, their continuity person can't be *that* blind! 6. FINALLY, Larry and Xander, verrrrry interesting.... Did anyone see a "Heathers" homage there, except that now the piggish football-player bully really IS gay? "You're secret's safe with me...." "Secret"? Sure that word is ostensibly based on a misunderstanding, but Joss loves portentous little bits of foreshadowing. What is Xander's sexual secret? I had expected him to come back to Buffy and say: Xander: Larry's not our wolf. Buffy: How can you be sure? Xander: Let's just say it wasn't *girls* he was eating last night! (Maybe not quite so crude). But instead he gets defensive and accuses her of pushing the subject. Just normal male teen sexual insecurity? Larry touched him, and looked at him knowingly. And Xander was speechless.... This follows a scene in which he is fairly uninterested in passion with the school's "most attractive" girl. Did his scene with Cordy in Lovers Lane remind you at all of a similar scene with the evil frat leader and his girlfriend in "Animal House" (remember rubber gloves and "is it supposed to be this soft?"?). We were once blown away that Xander would end up with Cordy (or would have been were it not for the spoilers). How blown away (so to speak) would we be if he has a tryst with Larry? What would Willow say then? Another tirade about his kissing mean people that he hates? A cutting-room floor scene of her having it out with Larry, then making up and commiserating with him about Xander's flakiness? How many skeletons lurk in Mr. Harris's CLOSET??? It boggles the mind... Love all the character interaction, dialog, teenage years=horror. This show fills the hole that my so called life left. So anyway, I'm watching one of my favorite, little, IMO under-appreciated movies "Mary Reilly" with Julia Roberts & John Malchovich and I'm thinking WOW, its like Buffy & Angel and Buffy & Eeeeville Angel! A sure sign that perhaps I think about my fav show a little too much? Should I be worried? Anyway, Mary: In love with angsty Dr. Jekyll, Very intrigued by eevill & sexy Mr. Hyde. Jekyll/Hyde: One is in love with Mary, the other feels a kind of obsession for her. Hyde obviously *knows* Mary through Jekyll, and uses this knowledge to shock her, taunt her, play mind games, but ultimately he couldn't bring himself to kill her. If TPTB cannot get Buffy and Angel really together in a non-boring way (I mean I'm as romantic as the next person, but smooching ALL THE TIME!?), then I would sooo love to see the Buffy and Evil Angel story be similar to Mary and Mr. Hyde. There's so much story potential there, except I don't want B&A to end as Hyde & Mary did. If Angel's soul is restored I would like it done so that there is a constant struggle for control of the demon like Jekyll & Hyde. I want the danger and angst back in the B&A relationship. I want eeville Angel to show some love. I want to see some real displays, not by proxy (Theresa: "Angel send his love"). I want to keep the level of intensity that was created. All this would make those romantic moments soo much more intense. I don't want to see the story of "Buffy must kill the now totally evil Angel". This is too stressful to watch because hope is not even implied in that scenario. Maybe the coming episodes will show us a direction that all this is going in, whatever happens I stand by this show....But until then this is fun! later, - ---erinne - - ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 31 Jan 1998 20:52:11 -0500 From: William Jensen Subject: BUFFY: David on Entertainment Tonight - Weekend Just saw a *quick* (and I mean *quick*) segment with David Boreanaz on the Weekend edition of Entertainment Tonight. It was more a "quick look into David" than about the show and his alter-ego. (Although it did mention the Buffy/Angel romance and the show, but more as to show who David is and what he does). The best aspect of the segment was David's retelling of a fan encounter. "I was walking to a Taco joint the other day and this lady turned around and said, 'ooh, there's Angel.'" It was just nice to see Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and David) receiving more exposure.
