Also, the mythology goes 'In every GENERATON there is a chosen one...' but it is also said that when one Slayer dies, the next is called upon. Now, given that no Slayer has lived past her 20's, if the next one is immediatly called (such as Kendra when Buffy died) then wouldn't that be a really short generation?? Or is generation based on the length of the Slayers life...in which case, a more relevent term should have been chosen. BTW, does anyone know what's up with geocities?? Also, Angel might have wanted to keep the VAMPIRES from knowing what he was doing. Vampires do tend to squabble and kill each other on occasion, so an occasional report of Angelus killing another vampire could be accepted by the vampires as business as usual. And occasional reports of some mystery guy helping out Slayers wouldn't automatically be associated with the vampire Angelus. But if the vampires found out that Angel had a soul and was systematically killing other vampires and helping Slayers, Angel would not only lose the useful information he gets from contacts with other vampires, but he could be deliberately hunted down by the vampires. On another topic, some people have reacted badly to the suggested possibility of a Giles/Joyce romance. But the objections to it are precisely the reason the writers might want to have it on the show. This isn't a dating service; it's a continuing TV series. If Joyce/Giles would cause problems, if Buffy might get upset by it, if it could alter the relationship between Buffy and Giles, that would give the writers a whole bunch of new storylines to explore. It would be dramatically interesting, like Xander/Cordelia. Xander/Willow would have been a "happy ending" thing, but Xander/Cordelia gave the the show secrecy scenes, Willow's reaction, Cordelia's friends' reaction, etc. Theodore Jay Miller tedjmill@mindspring.com Keeper of Willow's potential dreidel lesson for her egg baby (BE), Willow's medical knowledge (KBD), Dalton's love of reading - - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 18:54:13 -0800 From: "Sai Wong (Exchange)" Subject: RE: BUFFY: Re:Rolling Stone Magazine > Can anyone tell me the site address to Rolling Stone Magazine? Clancyphile emerges from lurking to observe: I'm afraid Desiree is right to this point in a large extent. The breastbone is there, as is the rib cage, to protect the heart and lungs against most attacks, including from stakes. However, the breastbone and ribs have NOT been invulnerable. A sharp knife between the ribs or an ice pick can be more than enough to send you to the hospital (if you're lucky) or the morgue (much more likely). The best option for an average Joe (or Jane) would be to be able to accelerate a small stake at a very high speed, using kinetic energy to break through the armor. In short, use a wooden bullet to get into the vamp's chest for the dusting. Joss has not set a requirement for how large a stake must be to kill a vampire. For all we know, all you need is an lucky splinter and and the vamp's gone for good. For Willow, her best bet against a vamp would be to have a subcompact automatic pistol firing at least the .380 ACP cartridge. The likely choice would be the FEG Mk II APK, with a pair of spare magazines.
