I can understand your sentiment but I just wanted to point out that we really haven't had the evil Angel all that long (I think all the repeats make it seem longer than it is). He's been bad in Innocence and the following 4 episodes so think of it this way: when we're watching the show on a daily basis in syndication next century, we've only got a week's worth of evil Angel episodes so far. Since this is such a major plot twist, that's not a lot in the grand scheme of things. Remember, it took 7 episodes before Buffy and Angel kissed and she found out he was a vampire (well, 6 if you count the two-hour premiere as 1). It was then another 18 episodes before they slept together. Or consider Oz and Willow. We first saw Oz in Inca Mummy Girl; he and Willow didn't kiss for another 11 episodes. My point is that for something as major as Angel turning bad, it's not unreasonable for the writers to move slowly and try to milk as much out of this as they can before they turn him good again. Also, I doubt if they'll get another shot at an evil Angel in the future because I can't see many fans accepting him bouncing back and forth between good and evil like a ping-pong ball.
