I think that Vampgrl22 is onto something here. We, as a group, have been entirely too accepting of the apparent motives of many of the characters. For example, I think that most of us were blindsided by the revelation of Ms Calendar's hidden agenda. I think that Joss often puts subtle hints in front of us in cases like this. For example, I have only recently realized that Ted's comment (which I have been implicitly quoting in my sig for months): "Cast iron makes all the difference", can be viewed, at least in hindsight, as a veiled reference to his view of the superiority of his own metallic (ie robotic) construction. Does anyone recall hints that Jenny was up to something that we missed the first time around? Good work Vampgrl22! Thanks for alerting us to these suspicious circumstances. I'm not convinced that you have exactly the right analysis yet, but I want to nominate you as lead special prosecutor for the group to see if you can pin something on Kendra! The reason I say this disk is rare is because the DVD and LaserDisc versions were recalled by Columbia Tri-Star about 5 days before it was due to be released. Apparently the recall was prompted by a legal issue involving the included original theatrical trailer and the claims that the movie is "from the creator of SCREAM". This has been an issue since the movie was released in theatres, and I wonder what could have been going through their heads to include the same trailer on the DVD and LD. The day I heard about the recall, I quickly phoned up a DVD mail order house and ordered a copy, which they promptly sent out before they heard about the recall. Maybe if I'm lucky the disk will be worth something 50 years from now :) Anyway, back to the commentary... this is what was said: SCENE: Sarah Michelle Gellar's first appearance in the film, Helen strolling on stage in a bathing suit for the "Croaker Queen" beauty contest. "Sarah Michelle Gellar... this scene she actually did on her audition for the film . She actually played this part with a swimsuit [parade?], and we actually cast sarah, probably she was the last of the four main key characters to be cast. All of the others I had gotten before we went to North Carolina to film, and Sarah flew to North Carolina and auditioned for us there, and it was so obvious from the screen test that she was right, and she walked away with the part." "...and that was prior to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actually opening. So we actually were very lucky in casting Sarah because we got the benefit of her television stardom when the flm was released. At the time she was a comparative unknown, really, although she had a fairly large role in a daytime soap, which she won a daytime emmy for." Jim Gillespie, Director "I Know What You Did Last Summer"=20 from running audio commentary included on the "IKWYDLS" DVD and LaserDisc. That one word up there [parade?] I am not sure about, and after multiple listens to the commentary, I still cannot quite make it out.=20 It could possibly be "to the read.", but he said it REALLY fast. Mr. Gillespie has a rather thick Scottish accent, and it was somewhat hard to transcribe what little I did. =20 Some rather interesting points made about how Sarah's fame from "Buffy" helped the box-office take for the movie, and that she had been cast before the series had even premiered. One more thing...anyone notice how the beach was called "Dawson's Beach" in IKWYDLS? That name must have some significance to Kevin Williamson. - --Flagg - - ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Mar 1998 08:59:08 -0600 From: "Keryn Aikman" Subject: BUFFY: Krispy Kreme Question I saw the thread about Krispy Kreme and I was just wondering... as of late I have seen KK all over the place in movies, tv shows etc... coming from Texas here... what the heck is Krispy Kreme?
