I realize that Anne Rice's vampires are quite different from Joss' but in "Interview With the Vampire" Lestat goes mad and is seriously injured and for a period time he lived in a run down building and fed on rats. However, all the treasures and such he had collected over his life were waiting for him in banks, old properties, etc. Maybe Angel shunned those possessions during that 90 years as he shunned other vampires. He wanted no association with that life. Perhaps the Whistler's challenge to Angel to become somebody prodded him to change his mind? Which allowed him to accept these things into his life? This is, of course, purely speculation. I have no answers one way or another. . . Just a vivid imagination. Am I the only one who's ever wondered why Drusilla is Catholic? I mean it's not impossible, but she's English, from the 1860s--Catholics would have been a minority at the time. I'm not ever sure if there were convents in England at the time (there weren't any in England in 18th century, but things may have loosened up a bit). Also, from her accent she would seem lower-class, which I think would make it more unlikely (but perhaps I'm making this part up). Also, I think someone posted something recently which assumed Angel is/was Catholic--but is he? It would depend on whether he was Irish-Irish (mostly lower-class and Catholic) or Anglo-Irish (upper classes and Protestant). These divisions would have been particularly predominant in the 18th century--just something to think about. I really enjoyed Go Fish and Becoming. Can't wait for the finale. I think my favorite scene was the cafeteria scene (especially the dramatic fishstick recreation of the big fight) and the flashbacks. David was very impressive as an actor in this episode. Pandora's right; Angel's not going to be staked, at least not for another year, so there's no sense arguing that point. I'd like to see him get his soul back just to see how the group would react to him. He also had a point about Buffy's "linear thinking". She needs to get some new game plans so that he can't predict her movements so well. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out. There was one point I was curious about. Whistler said he was a "good" demon. Is that possible? Demons work for the Evil One himself, so how could there be good ones, since they would always be trying to defeat Satan's purposes? It's Joss's world, of course, and he can do what he wants, but it seems odd, all the same. Maybe he's really an angel of sorts? What do you guys think? Two cast-related things, then I'm gone. Did Brian Thompson play the Vessel in the pilot? If so, I just saw him in "Mortal Combat - Annihilation", which is a bad movie, but he's good in it. Also, what is the name of the actress who plays Darla? I think she was in "As Good As It Gets", but was she in last Sunday's episode of X-Files (if so, she played a zombie)? Bye for now. Great discussions; the list gives me a lot to think about. How about this. It's fiction ,people aren't really dying so I can't really feel bad knowing that he is killing people. As long as he isn't going to kill the any of the Scooby Gang anytime soon, which we know he won't because there main characters, Angelus can kill as many humans as he wants. He can wipe out the hole of Sunnydale for all I care. And we know he won't because all the characters that have died are main characters just reaccurring characters. And he won't wipe out all of Sunnydale becasue eventually he'll get his soul back.So to all those that say Angelus must tta's o.k with me because it's only common sense to know that he won't be killed off.Being a popular character and all. Also I'm tired of people complaining about how Buffy isn't that great anymore or that.I know people have their own opinions but really some people complain a tad too much.I think we all should be grateful that Buffy is still on TV.I'm not saying we shouldn't have our little gripes and all but I feel like spome of us aren't supporting Buffy enough.
