I don't take these awards things seriously (thought I am pretty good at picking which will win, I got all but three right for the Oscars) They're dumb. I am happy Buffy got three nominations, and I hope they win. I will probably watch them anyway. Buffy has a lot of things against them in nominations. Three major ones: 1) It's on the WB, not one of the "Big Three" networks. 2) It's a show made for teenagers. 3) It's a sci-fi show. When was the last time a sci-fi type show got nominated that wasn't the X-Files? I would have loved for Buffy to get more nominations, but facts are facts. I bet Ally McBeal will sweep the awards, even thought IMNSHO it is a dumb show. - ------ Now, onto relationships. Be careful, they're may be some spoilers: * * * * * I hope Buffy doesn't get together with anyone. Pairing people off on a show can ruin it. I am glad Willow got together with Oz. They can have the solid relationship on the show. Buffy and Angel will probably not get together in season three, then Angel is leaving for his new show. I am guessing Xander and Cordelia will break up over the "Xander-being-in-love-with-Willow-and-Buffy" thing (of course, I think Xander's inability to choose a girl stems from his latant homosexuality, but that's just a theory *g*) Jenny's dead, they're a possiblity Joyce and Giles will get together. (down on my knees, begging) Joss, in the name of Ralph, do not do this! (end begging) Maybe if Cordelia and Xander have an on again off again relationship I'll be happy. As long as Willow and Oz stay together, I don't care who is together or not. Mina - ------- "I don't think you're guilty. I guess you know your show has "arrived" when you can pick up nearly any teen/young adult magazine (at random) and find something about its stars. On a plane a couple days ago I grabbed the "InStyle" from the seat pocket in front of me and immediately found a couple of Sarah ditties. The second of them had a picture of her at a 'Godzilla' premiere in Manhattan in the company of director Roger Kumble. He is standing in back of her with his arms around her. Had anyone heard they were dating? Just now in line at the supermarket, I saw a teen mag called "All About You!" (which I didn't even know existed). Betting myself that I could find Buffy-related stuff inside in under a minute, I flung it open and quickly located some on pages 2, 41, 78, and 96 (short clips on Sarah as a celeb girlfriend, Buffy and Willow as friends in the "Best Buds" section [hey, they listed Joey & Dawson as "best buds," so why not Willow & Xander?]; Sarah describing a childhood fear; and the classic Sarah "Got Milk?" ad). These particular articles can be seen (along with scores of other Buffy-related ones) at the Cyberpaws Gallery at: http://www.planetx.com/~cybrpaws/gallery/index.html (Click on "Media and Official Images" and the above mentioned articles are at the bottom: "InStyle (August '98), Sarah: 1 2" and "All About You (8/98), Sarah: 1 2 3 4"). Seems like nearly *any* teen/young adult mag grabbed at random these days can be sifted to reveal nuggets of Buffy trivia.... Blade was a comic book put out by Marvel, and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that it originally came out in the 70's. If anything, Joss has taken some inspiration from Blade to use in Buffy. There are a lot of parallels between Buffy and Blade. Both Buffy and Blade are the onbly ones who can fight the vampires, they both have a mentor who helps them and trains them, etc. Makes you wonder if Joss was a Blade fan. ========================================================================= "The only people who have no fear are those too stupid to know what to be afraid of." I highly doubt this is the case. There's no doubt that a bias exists against teen shows and fantasy shows and WB shows as you and others have mentioned. And that certainly hurts BtVS in the major award categories. I don't watch a lot of TV, so I don't know if ER, L&O, NYPDB, etc. are better or worse than BtVS overall. But the publicity that BtVS gets even from these small awards will help its bid for major awards in upcoming seasons. If I recall correctly, the X-Files won Golden Globes before winning Emmys. txf has the advantage of a huge non-US audience. Does Buffy have that advantage? It doesn't sound like it from the buzz I get on this list. == Todd \\\\ The Browns are back! _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? OK, I'm confused a bit here. From what I heard, they are releasing the following eps: Welcome to the Hellmouth/The Harvest The Witch/NKABOTFD Angel/Puppet Show Now, if they follow the air order for the first six eps, that means a couple of eps like Teacher's Pet and the Pack would move up in the release order. Ala, the X-Files vids. Hey, it it works, that's cool. And I'd love to see Joss' take on some of the eps. I think it'll be cool as long as he doesn't do what Chris Carter does on the XF vids and give away the entire end of the show (esp. for those who might not have yet seen the eps!) See ya! Yes, the credits before/after the episodes themselves show the spelling as "Drusilla" and that's probably about as close to canon as one can hope for. Now, if only we had such certainty about the Incan Mummy Girl's name, Ampata, Empada, Ampada? That name was *not* spelled in the credits. The plot synopsis at the old official site listed it as "Empada." But common sense would dictate "Ampata" because she is surely based on the famous Peruvian Mummy Girl (aka the "Ice Maiden") found on Mt. Ampato in the Andes several years ago ("Ampata" being the Spanish feminine of "Ampato" and all).
