This is just a little ease-my-boredom fic though. DISTRIBUTION: My site. Anyone else, please ask, I'll say yes, I just like to know where my fics go. RATING: G SPOILERS: None SUMMARY: A pre-quel to the Buffyverse perhaps. Just a little story I had to write to get it out of my head. DISTRIBUTION: Joss owns all. I own none. No infringement intended. Sunnydale Community Playground, 1985. Mrs. Harris led her five-year-old son Alexander over to the morning playgroup she had signed him up for while she went to work. The little boy clung to his mother's hand, looking around at all the other little kids with big eyes. "Okay, Alexander, Mommy has to go now. Are you going to be okay?" He nodded, half not wanting his mother to leave, and half wanting to go over and climb on the huge rock in the middle of the playground. Mrs. Harris bent down to his level and kissed her son on the forehead. "Be good now. Don't pick up bugs and pull their legs off." She disentangled her hand from his and headed back to the car. Alexander looked around, trying to decide what to do first. A group of kids were doing fingerpainting with the program director. Nah, he decided. Been there, done that. A girl he knew from nursery school, Cordelia, was sitting on a bench in a lacy, ribboned dress. She held a doll in her lap and was showing it to her friend sitting beside her. Alexander figured he'd head over there. It was someone he knew at least. "Hi Cordelia," he said, approaching the bench. Cordelia turned to face him. "Go away. We don't like you. You're a BOY. And you're dirty," she declared, sticking her tongue out at him. Alexander stuck his tongue back out at her. "And you're a dorkhead," he retailiated. Fine. Cordelia didn't want to play with him. He looked around some more. A boy was sitting off by himself, playing with a toy guitar. Alexander decided to try him next. He looked harmless. Alexander walked over and sat down on the grass beside him. "Hi," he said. "Hi," the boy said back. "Whatcha doing?" Alexander asked. "Playing music," was the reply. "What's your name?" "Oz." "Oh," Alexander said. Never heard of that name before. He sat for a minute, watching the boy run his fingers over the guitar strings. Oz ignored Alexander, engrossed in his "music". Alexander got bored and started looking around the playground for a new playmate. There was a pig-tailed, red-haired girl in the sandbox, building a careful sand castle. He watched her as she carefully placed more sand in even layers, making sure she didn't knock the castle over. Another kid came up to the red-haired girl. Alexander watched, wondering what would happen next. The kid was bigger than the girl, and looked mean. Then the big kid kicked over the girl's sand castle, laughing. Alexander jumped to his feet and ran over to the girl, wanting to defend her. "Hey you!", Alexander said. "Don't be mean to her." "Oh yeah? What are you gonna do? Hit me?" the bully said. "Maybe," Alexander said. He had an idea. He quickly bent down and scooped up a handful of sand and threw it at the kid. The kid ran away, yelling. Alexander turned to the girl. She had tears in her eyes, but a smile on her face. "Don't cry," he told her. "I'll help you build another castle." Alexander wrapped the girl in a tight hug, trying to make her feel better in his five-year-old way. The girl smiled even wider. "What's your name?" Alexander asked. "Willow," the girl said. "That's pretty. I'm Alexander." "Alexa- - Alexan --", Willow struggled, trying to make her tiny tongue form the big word. "Xander," she finally said. "I'm naming you Xander." "Cool," Xander said. "Wanna be best friends?" "Yeah," Willow said. She was looking at him funny. Wide-eyed. Adoring. He felt like the big brother, the cool kid. Willow was his girl now. The pair sat down to build a foundation for the sandcastle, and for a friendship that would last the ages. **END** ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Nov 1998 14:59:35 -0800 From: "Ian and Tiff" Subject: BUFFYFIC: Moonlight Chat - 1/1 by Tiffany Title: Moonlight Chat - 1/1 Author: Tiffany Gregg E-Mail: iangr@msn.com Distribution: It'll be at my site. Spike looked over at the girl walking beside him and sighed to himself. The moonlight danced across her face, illuminating her perfect features and making her eyes twinkle like the stars. Buffy looked over at Spike and smiled. "You're staring." "Sorry Pet can't help myself." he replied giving her a lopsided grin. "When I look at you, I...well, I just...I can't explain it. Never mind." he added in a rush and looked away. Buffy stopped and turned Spike so they were facing one another. "Please, Spike. Try and explain it. Please?" She put her hand on his cheek and he instinctively nuzzled into her palm. "I want to understand you. I need to. If we're going to make a go of what ever this is we're doing, we need to be honest with one another." Spike closed his eyes, took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. When he opened his eyes he found Buffy looking up expectantly at him. Unable to deny her anything, he resigned. "Okay, Luv, you win...when I look at you it's like, well, it's like basking in the sunlight on a summers day. You light up the dark places inside of me, Slayer." "You sure know how to make a girls heart swoon." she replied smiling broadly at him. The smile on Buffy's lips fell abruptly when she noticed that he was not returning the gesture. "What is it? What's wrong?" she asked hesitantly. "I wasn't finished, Luv." "Sorry." she replied sheepishly. "Please finish." "Sometimes when I look at you" Spike paused briefly, "I am ashamed of what I am, of the things I've done. I have always enjoyed being a vampire, the thrill of the hunt and all that rot you know. But the kill, I just don't enjoy it the way I use to. Bloody hell, I've even left my last three victims alive!" Buffy gently stroked his cheek with her hand and looked him in the eyes. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you were growing a soul." she said softly. "Not bloody likely, Pet." he snorted back at her. Buffy couldn't help but giggle at the indignant expression on his face. Seeing the laughter light her eyes, Spike could contain the urge to hold her no longer. He quickly pulled Buffy into his arms and kissed her passionately before trailing tiny kisses across her jaw and down her neck to her collarbone. He nuzzled his face against her neck and groaned "Do you know what you do to me, Slayer? Do you know how you make me feel?" "No, but if it's anything like how I feel when I'm near you...." she stopped and blushed a brilliant shade of red. Spike captured her lips once again. This time sweeping his tongue past her lips and gently caressing hers. He snaked one hand up behind her to caress the back of her neck. His other arm went around her waist and pulled her in tightly against him. Pulling back from the embrace Spike said "Well, Pet, we best be getting you home before your mum starts to worry." Buffy was momentarily taken aback by the love and longing shining back at her in his eyes. She took his hands and smiled "I'm in no hurry. Maybe we could go to your place for a while?" "Anything to make you happy, Luv." "Anything?" she questioned with a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Anything." he stated as calmly as he could. His heart and mind were racing trying to figure out exactly what she meant by 'anything'. He gave her hand a little squeeze and started down the street to his place. He had a feeling that this would be night to remember. ========== The End.
