I decided to add MSS today after some nice movement on Monday. I know that M is weak, but I felt I could add another position since my other 3 holdings have been doing so well (PKI, KVA, ACDO). That puts me back up over 50% invested. I expect to wait the M out before adding any other new positions. At 08:44 PM 9/26/00 -0700, you wrote: >Still 90% cash also. Nice looking chart, but I would have two problems with buying it. The RS (at least in Quotes Plus) is declining as the stock is breaking out. Bill, I bought MCRL on 8/24 @ 65 =BC on 9/1 it hit a high of 78 5/8. This was a 2= 0% gain and told me that I could no longer take a loss in this stock. I ended up selling this stock on 9/15 @ 67 5/8 for a 3.12% gain a far cry from 20% but at least positive. I recall reading that you bought this stock for 62. At the high you were up 26.8%. I am curious why you held this stock all the way back to 62 on 9/22. A study of many of my past purchases showed that many of them stall at 25% before they decide to go up or down from there. There have been a lot of hot potatoes of late. Chris, Excellent point about stocks stalling at 25%. Looking back I probubly should have but was going to try the WON test of "if a stock rises 20% or more in a few weeks, let it run". Last year I found myself quickly selling many of my buys only to see them continue to rise. I was hoping it was to be a normal pullback. WON talks about this. He also says don't let a gain turn to a loss (?). This is a tough market. I think this stalling pattern will improve once the market shows a true turn around with a follow-thru day. For now it's going to be hit and miss. All in all, I'm still up 30% for the year so I can't complain. All of that was made from Jan - March though. - -Bill - ----- Original Message ----- From: "chris dempsey" To: Sent: Wednesday, September 27, 2000 5:50 AM Subject: Re: [CANSLIM] MCRL (anyone out there?) > Bill, > > I bought MCRL on 8/24 @ 65 ¼ on 9/1 it hit a high of 78 5/8. They announced a secondary so it could be the pent-up demand upon issue thing again. Anyway I'm in less than 5% over the pivot which I called at 41-1/4 so 5% extended is about 43.33. This looks like a double bottom to me but the second bottom is not lower than the first which would make it more attractive. Buying anything in this M is high risk so caveat emptor! Unbelievable how much much money some of these guys have made this week just scalping and shorting the channels. I've even done well with EMLX, ITWO, SEBL and CIEN. Last two weeks were really frustrating buying breakouts and having them quickly get creamed. That's a big problem with CANSLIM stocks when the market has been up and these stocks are at there fourth and fifth bases after 500% runups. Looking forward to getting long when this thing gets around to tanking. - - ------------------------------ End of canslim-digest V2 #1013 ****************************** To unsubscribe to canslim-digest, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe canslim-digest" in the body of the message.
