CANSLIM mentions that a stock should be near a 52 wk high. The reason here is that there won't be that much overhead supply since there won't be anybody who bought higher still waiting to sell. If that's the rationale, can we shorten the time period to high since Jan. 1? The thinking here is that many may have dumped there losers in Nov./Dec. to claim the capital loss. Those who bought higher and didn't sell are probably in it for the long-term. While we are well into this year, there may not be much difference between the 2 approaches, I think it would really show if you apply your rule in Feb., Mar, Apr.
