As for being a CANSLIM stock, the latest (Q4) qtr's drop in earnings of 14% would strip it of one of the more essential CS elements. As an aside, having spent four years on the Great Lakes, I am surprised that Q4 did so poorly considering the mild winter thanks to El Nino and continuing industrial demand for raw material. Both the mines and shipping should have remained in operation longer this year than last. MWD - aside from being a big cap stock, both the chart and CS elements look good, but out of my price range. Exactly right IMO. You are a quick study. Those 3 weeks at 22 were the handle on a cup of course. The breakout was the point at which it cleared the top of the handle. The handle formed about 8% below the high on the left rim of the cup which is fine. It should be in the top 20% or so of the cup. Actually the 22 1/2 point was cleared on the 16th on volume of 861,000. Therefore if you limit yourself to buying up no more than 5% past the pivot, you could buy it to about 23 5/8. However - surprise, this one actually has two pivots. The one you pointed out is the best one, and the ideal day to buy. The second pivot is at 24 where most of the work which formed the rim on the left side of the cup was done (about a week or two). This would be a good day to buy or pyramid buy (add to your position). You would have probably been able to catch it at about 25 on the 20th. The huge volume surge that day would have told you it was valid to buy (traded over 2 million shares). Since the second pivot was at 24 1/2, if you limit yourself to buying up no more than 5% past the second pivot, you could buy it to about 25 3/4. You must be aware that the second pivot does not provide support in the same way the first pivot does (because of the 3 weeks of basing in the handle). You have already answered Surindra's question correctly. But to flesh out the details behind the answer, I think it would be chasing it to buy past 25 3/4. If you really feel like taking a risk, you MIGHT go to 26 3/4, but I would not personally do so. Because - if you look back at the original breakout, it is already up about 24% in just the past two weeks. If you calculate 10% past the original breakout at 22 1/2, you get only 24 3/4. So I would say 24 3/4 - 25 3/4 is not chasing it too much. Beyond that, you are chasing it - its just too extended from the base. Tom, I bought MDLK last friday and sold it yesterday for $4000 profit. Thanks for mentioning it. It is appeared on one of my screens and you mentioned that you had bought it so I jumped on Friday. I had to sell LTBG to come up with the money, but it worked and LTBG fell below where I sold it, but it is moving back to the $17-18 range where it had settled down before the negative earning report. However, my research has led me to believe that LTBG is a good company offering cutting edge technology in the wireless world. If their Qtr report is as good as I believe it will be.....I expect it to see 21-23 within a week after announcing their numbers. Also, I bot 1000 shares of HDWY yesterday at 7 15/16 and caught FTIC on a 1.5 dip and bot 1000 at 14 3/8. I hope both of these make me proud, as we Kentuckians oft say. Tom do you have any feelings about HDWY and with the good news the past few days. Why hasn't it moved better on the news? Also, have you heard anything about FTIC..
