Thus even tho full year 2002 forecasts call for a 31% gain in earnings, Q1 may be a difficult y2y comparison. And the lack of growth overall in 2001 would make me want to question and review the arguments why 2002 would be up 31%. The volume also appears to me that you are correct: Some relatively heavy buyer seems to be accumulating the stock. Also, it looks to me that those who own the stock are not selling it (ie. the hands seem to be getting stronger). What deters me from looking at it favorably (although it deserves to be watched for the volume reasons I cited above), is that it failed a break-out in January (albeit from a poorly formed C&H), and the volume on that H was low also. Conceededly, January's Handle fell much lower than a strong stock's handle should (it fell about a over 50%), but PPDI seems to be following the same pattern as it did in January. Only time will tell if it will form a handle that falls less than about 35%. I also like that it is being supported (at least for the 1st 2 wks in Feb.) by the 200 moving average. (However, I'm unsure about the broad mkt. [such as the Dow, S&P, and NASDAQ). How do others see the Market? IBD said yesterday in The Big Picture that it believe we are in a bull, but it would wait to see if NASDAQ breaks though the resistance of the 200 day MA it fell through a couple days ago.] jans In a message dated 3/13/2002 9:05:42 AM Eastern Standard Time, dukemill@tampabay.rr.com writes: << What I like most about PPDI: All the down days are very low and neatly interspersed with high volume up days. Here is where I agree: Sequential growth in earnings especially (less so in sales, but still so) is as you put it "stagnant". Now, I'd say that both earnings and sales will appear stronger in 2002, ie. 2001 was such a lousy year for the economy because the US was in a recession. However, the annual growth rate in earnings in PPDI in 2000/20001 was nearly 50%. So, I'm really not that certain how much, given the probability that we are coming out of a recession, sequential quarterly earnings in 2001 should be weighed. Additionally, the sequential added up to a nearly 50% increase in the annual rate of earnings growth in 2000/20001. What does give me pause is that the quarterly rate of earnings growth is declining (ie. rising slower than previous quarters). However, in its most recent quarter sales are up, both sequentially and compared to four quarters ago, which suggests to me, just from these numbers posted, that PPDI, as a company, is not getting weaker. jans In a message dated 3/14/2002 8:22:41 AM Eastern Standard Time, stkguru@netside.net writes: << It appears to me that while both sales and earnings for the past 4 qtrs show healthy percentage gains over 2000, they stagnated on a sequential basis in 2001.
