Hi Jans,

Hold your horses there partner!   ;-)     = It isn't what you think...

What I've done is subscribe the new list-server's email address to = the
old canslim's distribution list.  I did this so that current = messages

that is subscribed to the new list-server, everybody else is still

(the old list-server had already sent out your message).  Other = people
who have posted in the last 24-48 hours have seen the same thing.  = I've
subsequently turned the notification message off to help allivate = the

Two things to keep in mind regarding your posting:

1) It was delivered immediatly to everybody via the old list-server = and
was not held up in any way to the group.

2) The old list-server delivered a copy of your message to the new
list-server.  I'm currently the only one subscribed to the new

current member (because you aren't subscribed to the new list-server
yet) and held up your message to be approved.  It then sent you = a
message saying your posting was being held for approval.

I don't know if this helped explain things or if it confused you = more.
Regardless, just keep these things in mind:

1) The same old canslim list-server is still in place and will be = until
I indicate otherwise.

2) I won't make the transition unless or until:

  a) I'm confident that the new list-server will give us equal or = better

service.

  b) The transition can be done in a smooth manner.

3) I will continue experiementing in ways that will not disrupt the
operations of the old list-server, but in ways that may raise = questions
or cause confusion from time to time.  You're not the only person = to be
confused by my experimentation.

4) I may conclude in the end to not make the switch.  However, at = this
point I am leaning to making the switch.

5) Once I'm satisfied the move will be good, I'll throw the switch = and
we'll all move over to the new list-server en-mass.   I won't = do this

If you notice somebody ordering "black coffee, no room" say hello for it will undoubtedly be me :3) Seriously, I feel strange ordering just coffee at Starbucks.  Luckily, I have ready access to Pete's Coffee, which caters to people who like their coffee straight up.

It took me a year or too to get used to the darker roasts out here on the left coast.

BTW McD's has pretty good coffee in a pinch. About 10 years back they advertised the switch to real coffee and it was a good thing since they had been serving the same watered down swill that the other tast food places were serving.

I found another sugar oasis! I know I'm a couple of years behind the times but it's Starbuck's. Visited three of them this past week to see what was going on and found:
1. of the 100 or so orders I saw, no one ordered coffee, all of the orders were super-charged with stuff to make their burnt tasting coffee palatable (yes I had a latte)
2. over 50% of the beverage orders were accompanied by bakery goodies
3. several orders were for bakery goodies only
4. 90+% of the customers were well dressed women (during business hours)
5. after working hours mostly couples

I sent an email to McDonald's and told them to scrap their $1 a meal program, triple their prices by adding more syrup to their soft drinks and milk shakes.... and giving away a bag of Oreo's with every order over $5.00...

BTW, McD's is selling coffee to seniors (free refills) at $0.31 cup... guess I'll have to try them because I'm getting  tired of Denny's and Dairy Queen.

I believe that this market is about to turn... I'm contemplating buying gold!

maybe it is easier for me because of nearly 7 years on the board and seeing how much Jeff stays in the background, but Ed's point is on target, be careful about overreacting before you have all the facts. Good lesson for life, even better one for investing.

Jeff already invests a lot of his time and effort, and probably money, in providing this forum. I am willing to bet the very last thing he is interested in doing is having to monitor or censor every post.

I don't want to get in hot water here but Jeff did ask everyone what they thought about the whole situation -and Jans just told him. I'm sure if he knew it was a technical problem and not the way the new list was going to function, his response would have been different. Just a thought Nancy

I agree with Jeff's reply, I guessed the notice I got (same as jans) was
related to the new software, and just emailed Jeff directly about it. I had
already seen my post show up in the usual quick fashion, so knew it was not
being held.

Besides, as Ed says, it's Jeff's list, and his choice and decision on
switching. It's not up to a majority vote, those that don't like it don't
have to continue. And his ability to monitor, control even when necessary,
has not only helped snuff out the few flames we have had over the years, but
also makes it possible for this to remain an unmoderated board.

I think first and foremost we all need to remember that this is Jeff's
world: his list, not ours.  We have the privilege to add our thoughts
and comments here because Jeff allows it.  If Jeff wanted to "screen"
responses, it would be his prerogative.

This  is a classic case of an individual overreacting prior to getting
all the facts:  A bad habit good traders/investors should stay away
from.  I applaud Jeff in his efforts and again, if it wasn't for him, we
all would be just reading IBD at face value.  (Ooh - that sent shivers
down my spine).  So, thank you Jeff!

Hi Jans,

Hold your horses there partner!   ;-)     It isn't what you think...
;-)

What I've done is subscribe the new list-server's email address to the
old canslim's distribution list.  I did this so that current messages
will distribute through the new list-serve.  Currently, I'm the only one

that is subscribed to the new list-server, everybody else is still
subscribed to the old list-server and the server is still working as it
always has.  You and all other subscribers do not need to do anything
differently at this point.

The message you received that your posting is awaiting approval is the
new list-serve telling you that your posting is being held for approval
(the old list-server had already sent out your message).  Other people
who have posted in the last 24-48 hours have seen the same thing.  I've
subsequently turned the notification message off to help allivate the
confusion.

Two things to keep in mind regarding your posting:

1) It was delivered immediatly to everybody via the old list-server and
was not held up in any way to the group.

2) The old list-server delivered a copy of your message to the new
list-server.  I'm currently the only one subscribed to the new
list-server.  However, the new list-server didn't recognize you has a
current member (because you aren't subscribed to the new list-server
yet) and held up your message to be approved.  It then sent you a
message saying your posting was being held for approval.

I don't know if this helped explain things or if it confused you more.
Regardless, just keep these things in mind:

1) The same old canslim list-server is still in place and will be until
I indicate otherwise.

2) I won't make the transition unless or until:

  a) I'm confident that the new list-server will give us equal or better

service.

  b) The transition can be done in a smooth manner.

3) I will continue experiementing in ways that will not disrupt the
operations of the old list-server, but in ways that may raise questions
or cause confusion from time to time.  You're not the only person to be
confused by my experimentation.

4) I may conclude in the end to not make the switch.  However, at this
point I am leaning to making the switch.

5) Once I'm satisfied the move will be good, I'll throw the switch and
we'll all move over to the new list-server en-mass.   I won't do this
without letting everyone know a date and a time well ahead of time.

Regards,

Jeff - canslim admin/owner
