NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of Electronics For Imaging Inc. (EFII) plunged nearly 60% Friday after the San Mateo, Calif., concern said its fourth-quarter results will come in far, far below Wall Street's expectations. The color-printing systems company said it expects to post fourth-quarter operating net income of 6 cents a share, compared with analysts' mean estimate of 49 cents, according to First Call Inc. In last year's fourth quarter, net income was 73 cents a share. Electronics For Imaging cited delays in purchases associated with product transitions, reductions of inventory by its customers and weakness in Asian economies. [Connie Mack] Could not have been more surprised when Tom told me I have been trading a Canslim stock. Guess it would take the eye of an old WON practioner to uncloak that devil day trading stock. These are Tom's notes from Monday. RS 82, EPS 99 Adv/Dist B Timeliness A Up/Down Ratio 1.5 ROE - a powerful 81% Current year EPS forecast - plus 42% Latest 4 qtrs EPS - (most recent to oldest) - +58%, +45%, +60%, +56% (pretty consistent despite the larger comparative base) Latest 4 qtrs sales (same way) - +42%, +41%, +38%, +51% (so earnings efficiencies) GRS - 83 Funds - 14% (so still plenty of room for additional purchasing on a mkt leader) Management ownership = 16% worth over $18 billion, so they have something at stake Earnings Growth Rate - 5 year - 84% The biggest deficiency is that it's not in the top five of its group, but improvement in its RS would change that quickly. Needs to break 86 RS to place # 5. Chartwise, a case can be made for a cup and handle that formed starting in early May, made a brief handle in early July before falling back to the 50/200 dma (or is that the 50/200 dam for those still holding?? - just a little, very little, investing humor!). It now has regained the same base level as the handle, and today on double ADV. So, for those who claim DELL is not canslim, or manslic or whatever, this is authentic Daily Graphs Online data current as of 8/23/99 and straight from WON's shop. Tom Worley Sold all my DELL just a bit below the pre-greedy, long time resistance of 49. Have not decided what tomorrow will bring.
