I am looking for excellent quality copies of a number shows. When I say
"excellent quality", I mean shows that are not mp3 sourced, do not have
blips between tracks, and are burned using DAO.
The shows I am looking for can be found at:
http://www.xmission.com/~marysmth/cure/trade/looking.php3
If you have any of the shows listed, please make sure that they do not have
blips between each track before contacting me. I already have copies of
these shows but they are all mp3 sourced or were not burned using DAO. I
don't have time to correct the problems so I thought I'd try here first.
My shows up for trade can be found at
http://www.xmission.com/~marysmth/cure/trade/index.php3
If you are interested in a trade, please reply to me privately, and not the
list.

wowowow... (after some replies come to my mailbox)
first let me ask you this :
is the vocal in the pink pig/someone else's cover for you're so happy song
that you have _sounds like robert's voice a lot_ ?
fyi : the mp3 i have really sounds like robert's voice. and the sound is
clear (just like any other studio song).
the size is 7,162,066 bytes.
i'd like to know this first before i upload the mp3.

I seem to remember around the time of pink pig, there were a couple of
unreleased songs they had the words to and invited bands to come up with
their own music. it's probably what these two songs are. robert's lyrics and
cure fans' music...

Date: 19 May 2001 18:57:19 -0700
Hi there,
I have a copy (vinyl LP) of the Cure live in Amsterdam 1979 that I'm
looking to move along to someone who will appreciate it more than I.
This sounds to be a radio broadcast or something like that and the sound
quality is quite good for a live recording from 1979. The track listing
includes:
Fire in Cairo
Jumping Someone Else's Train
Killing an Arab
A Forest (two versions)
Subway Song
Another Journey by Train
In Your House (with different Lyrics than the Seventeen Seconds version)
Boys Don't Cry
Three Imaginary Boys
I'm entertaining offers so if you're interested or have any questions,
drop me a line at
kevin@minds-eye.org
and let me know.
Thanks
Kevin
Oh yeah, one other thing, this album has a pornographic cover (a naked
woman on a pentagram) so if that sort of thing bothers you, you may want
to consider yourself warned.

Trent Reznor/Flood Confirmed To Produce Robert Smith's Solo Album
As of yesterday, according to a reliable source, both Trent Reznor and Flood,
who worked with NIN during the Downward Spiral era, are confirmed to produce
The Cure's Robert Smith solo album.
"I guess this means that with so many projects in the works ("One Hour Photo"
score, Tapeworm, Fragility DVD, Robert Smith, etc.), it'll be another three
years before we see a new nine inch nails album," said my source. "Can we say
business as usual at Nothing Studios?"
That will probably not be so much of the case here considering Trent Reznor
said nearly a month ago the next NIN album is going very well. "I'm working on
finishing a new (and very different) nine inch nails record over the next few
months." he said to his NIN: Access fans. Besides, between each major release
from NIN, Reznor breaks his mold and tries new things, but considering all his
new projects, we can only assume that work with Smith may begin later in the
year or early the following.
During the November 2000 Yahoo NIN chat, a question was asked if Reznor has any
plans to work or produce Robert Smith's solo album, which Trent had this to
say. "Robert and I have met a few times. The Cure has always been one of my
favorite bands," he said. "When I saw them on their last tour in LA, we were on
tour -- I made a detour just to see the show. We spoke at length about
contributing something to his solo record. Hopefully, something will come out
of that. I have great respect for him."

is this discusting or what? don't get me wrong i used to like trent reznor
in the early nin days, i even hung out with him in 1990 when nin was opening
for mbm, but i REALLY don't think that this is the BEST that robert could
do. i think that robert is selling himself short by using trent. nin and
the cure are like water and oil -- they don't mix, granted I KNOW that this

i think you're assuming way too much based on the NIN sound. just because
it's trent producing doesn't mean it'll sound like that. they are two
artists who obviously feel enough of a personal/artistic connection to work
together. don't count your tunes before they hatch

I have to agree with eiregirl on this one. Just because Reznor is working
with Smith doesn't absolutely mean the music will be like NIN...but the
fact of the matter is that I, personally, think Reznor is very overrated
and feel that Robert could do a lot better in that arena. This is all
personal opinion...which everyone is entitled to.
However, it seems that this article is only rumour ... as here is what
ChainOfFlowers has on their news section:
"Nothing really new to report on that Trent/Flood rumor, but one source
has described it as 'far fetched' since the solo album has been shelved
until after the recording and promotion of the new Cure album. Doesn't
mean it won't happen in the future, but work on the new Cure album comes
first."
Speaking of the new album...who is excited for them to go back into
studio? Who isn't? Is there anyone on this list that is a little pissed
about them making the appearance that this would be the end of the Cure?
Anyone feel that it was a publicity stunt?
I'm not stating my opinions on the matter...just trying to spark
conversation...see what everyone thinks.

I disagree. I think this could be a very cool album. As already stated,
just because Trent is producing it doesn't mean it's going to be a NIN
album. Think of all the producing Butch Vig has done. I can't think the
Smashing Pumpkins album he did sounds like anything Garbage. I think this
will be cool.

Think about the track Robert did with Reeves Gabrel and the Cogasm track.
Robert's been edging towards a more electronic sound and Trent may very well
be the man to produce. I sincerely hope his solo work is in the same vein as
the two tracks above because they rock!

it's almost as if it's pointless to even talk about anything until an

Well, let's think about it this way, look at the control Robert had on The
Cure, Robert has always been the leader, the songs sound the way he wants
them to sound, do you think he's gonna change all that for his SOLO album?
Robert didn't for the rest of his band, why wouldn't his SOLO album sound the
way he wants it to be? And although I'm not a NiN fan either, look at the
respect Trent has for Robert, he's not gonna shove anything in Robert's face,
and even if he did, Robert wouldn't submit, because it's always been about
him, and this is just one step closer if he releases a solo album.
Just my 5 cents :-D

WAY more intelligent and refined...

The cure has been refined (as far as I'm concerned) since 17 seconds... I
think this will be an interesting twist! Trent is an extraordinary
producer, and he's not necessarily going to do Starfucker-like
cut-and-paste vocals with robert; he knows way more tricks than that.
Give the boy some credit... and give the fragile a listen... I'm so
frickin sick of the nearly-childish Pretty Hate at this point... The
fragile is a brilliant piece of beauty and decay. Maybe you have to visit
New Orleans to understand...

Date: 22 May 2001 12:44:18 -0600
It's been brought to my attention that someone hasn't been incredibly fair
with the voting of the desktop images. I thought that the voting service I
used prevented people from voting more than once...but apparently it
doesn't and some people have been taking advantage of that fact.
So, to make this fair, I'm going to start the voting over again...and this
time, do not try to vote for a desktop image more than once...because I
will know.
You can now vote for the desktop images via Yahoo Groups. The voting booth
is setup at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/descent_new/polls/
To view the desktop images please view:
http://www.xmission.com/~marysmth/cure/descent/contest.html
The deadline has also been extended to June 1st.
Thanks all!! And sorry to make you revote!

fans should not conflate trent reznor the producer with trent reznor the artist. i doubt that trent reznor's influence will be tremendously apparent. if he's truly a great producer, the album will appear as nothing more than robert at his finest.
as i see it, the producer's job is to use his or her technical and intuitive proficiencies to help the artist present his or her vision in the truest sense possible. The producer has to understand the art involved, and the artist, without imposing himself on the product.
trent knows his own artistic vision, and so it follows that he can produce himself fabulously. however, i think it would be a mistake to assume that because trent's own, self-produced work has matured to sublimity, that he's automatically qualified to assist robert. if anything, trent's own art should be taken with a grain of salt when considering his value as a producer to other artists.

i know you can can them on the MP3 search engine

Also, for anyone else, I really recommend this search

The only reason I would suggest not reviving the list is because it will be
hard to get all of the old members back, unless you have access to the old
subscribing list. Believe me I know...I've been working my butt off to get
Descent back to where it was. (Any suggestions are definitely appreciated!)

Some people aren't able to view the desktop poll...it just takes them to the
category listing. The reason for this is because you haven't linked your
email address to your Yahoo! account.
I know this is a pain, but here is what you need to do to link it (after you
have signed up for a Yahoo! account):
1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/descent_new/
2. On the right side you'll see a link that says "conversion wizard." Click
on it.
3. On the next page you'll see two sections. One that says "Do you have an
eGroups password? and another that says "Don't have a password? Forgot your
password?" Under the 2nd section enter your email address and then click
"Continue".
4. It will ask you to enter an authorization code. That code will come to
you in your email. When you receive it, enter it in and follow the rest of
the directions.
5. Once you've completed those steps you'll be able to vote for your
favorite desktop image by going to
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/descent_new/polls/
Thanks everyone!

was the first list I subbed to in '95. Unfortunately for list activity, i am
more of a lurker than a poster... my heyday of posting activity was a rather
heated discussion (flame war perhaps?) in '96 with Stranger concerning the
relative merits of Jason's drumming technique as opposed to Boris', *flame bait
warning* and we all know now who the better drummer is, don't we? ;)

As the owner of Descent, I'm concerned about why you want to create
another Cure mailing list. What is it about this list that you don't like?
(And be honest, this is your list, not mine.) Why do you think that
a remake of Babble would be better?
The only warning I have for remaking Babble is that it will never be the
same because you won't get the same subscribers back (unless you have the
old subscription list). It went the same for this list. It has also been
difficult to get the larger Cure websites to change their link to Descent
to my webpage...I think the same would go for a new Babble.
And of course, I don't want people to leave for another mailing list. So I
truly do want to know your thoughts on this list and what you all feel I
could be doing to make it better.
Thanks!

i also don't see a point in reviving a second list when it's hard enough
getting people to use one. it's true, there'd be no way to get all the people
back from babble unless you had the original list.
maybe if we could get some good discussions going, more people would get
involved and new people would have a reason to be interested. i know i'm
guilty of lurking more than responding, but if there was more to respond to,
maybe we'd all pitch in more often...
why not just support descent by helping jessie to get people over here
instead? if everyone who subscribes to descent makes it a point to tell others
about it, and to add a link to their own site as appropriate, it could bring
more people here and you'd have more people to get involved.
jessie's done a good job of keeping this one alive for the rest of us - we
should all help her out instead of thinking of fragmenting it...

I've nothing against this list and don't dislike it at all. Even though I
no longer post since bloodflowers, i've been with all incarnations of
babble and descent since 1996 (descent came a bit later, 1997 or so I
think.) i have just recently gotten some of that long sought after free
time and i want to provide something for the ever-loving curepeeps since it
will be an indefinite time before i can host all my cure mp3s again (unless
someone would accept a shipment of cd-rs/permit me to upload and dump those
on their server, but it is 4-5 gigs worth and i seem to be digressing
;D.) i am just so used to two lists, is all, and a lot of people still
wander through the archives on various sites. but perhaps cure fans will
no longer support two lists. it was more a straw poll question than a
'i'll be setting up babble tomorrow, email this address to join'.
>The only warning I have for remaking Babble is that it will never be the

ah, babble/descent have always had lots of new members to replace the old
ones as each incarnation waxed and waned. however, the point about
difficulty of acquiring those members without a preset list of older ones
is taken. informally, people have been asking about babble a fair bit, so
i threw it out there. anyhow, there's nothing wrong with this list, so if
people are cool with one, i'll work a bit harder on the mp3 thing instead. ;D

Hi, just my two cents ...
when babble was alive many people were subscribed to both lists and
many postings were just sent to both lists, so one mailing list is
definately enough (and thanks to Jessie for putting back descent where
it was) - not to mention to get back all the people to babble like
Jessie mentioned already ...
People who don't get enough still have the possibility to write
message at stiff as toys forum

The only advantage of babble is that it was also available unmoderated
(descent is still moderated, isn't it?)
I only just resubscribed to descent after my last change of mail address and
it was pretty difficult to find the "new" address. Nancy (who used to run
babble) luckily provided me with the new address.
and to the number of posts: They will go up with news emerging about the new
CD and as it probably will take a while to record it (they weren't very fast
with the last one) we'll have lots of things to speculate about.
and Jessie: To get descent more popular or easier to find you could use a
program like submit wolf to get the descent website higher in the ranking of
the popular search engines if someone looks for a cure mailinglist.
so, I wouldn't mind another (unmoderated) list.

Subject: (descent) Questions Answered
Date: 30 May 2001 12:35:50 -0600
Many have brought up valid points about renewing Babble, and many also had
questions. So, I'd like to discuss and answer these points and questions.
MODERATION & THE LACK OF DISCUSSION
Descent is moderated because back when Alia Rayl owned it, the list was so
full of subscribers that it got out of hand. The emails poured in constantly
and it also turned into nothing but flames. Many of the members of the time
felt there was no valid discussion going on, so they asked that it be
moderated.
That happened probably a few years ago, and it may not be valid now. The
list only contains 168 members so it's very small compared to the old
Descent and Babble. But, because of this, I am much more leniant on the
moderation that Alia was. Rarely will I not let something through to the
list. So, the lack of conversation is not caused by the moderation but is
instead caused by the lack of members who like to start conversations or
join in on them.
I am willing to remove moderation, in the sense that I will forward every
email no matter what, if you, the members want that. I will set up a poll
to see if the majority of the members want the moderation removed. If that
sounds like a good idea to you all, please let me know privately. Also,
when I say that I will remove moderation just to the point of forwarding
every email, this means that the moderation function of the list will still
be intact, but I won't not forward the mails on. The reason for this is for
your safety. I have had several email worms (a type of virus) sent to the
list from subscribers who weren't aware they had received it. The only way I
can block this virus from reaching the subscribers is by keeping the list
moderated.
I hope that makes sense, but nonetheless, if anyone wants me to set up a
poll for the moderation, please let me know.
ADVERTISING OF THE LIST
This list is a little difficult to find because I have had a hard time
getting it's listing in Search Engines in a high placement. I won't go into
the details of that...one reason is I didn't have the knowledge to do it
until now, and now I don't totally have the time. But another part of it has
to do with the fact that most Cure websites still link to Alia's old Descent
website. I have in the past written the most popular sites and asked them to
change the address...without much success. However, yesterday I tried again
and appear to be having better luck this time. So, I can only hope this
will increase the traffic to the list...and I'm definitely going to try to
find some time to get the ranking of this site up a little higher. Spreading
the word will help and linking to this site from your webpage will
definitely help! (The address is: http://www.xmission.com/~marysmth/cure/ )
SUGGESTIONS
Any suggestions that any of you have to make this list more fun, more
popular, etc....are always welcome! Please remember to send them to me
privately at

i think just one list is best. with two lists (as before and as i'm
finding now with Kent) you end up getting repeat messages, can't keep
track of which list you read something on, etc.
true, babble was unmoderated, but i don't see Jessie excessively
moderating descent, so i don't think that's a huge concern here.

I think descent could be great if we got people
talking. A list is made of the people on it and I'm
sure many of the old ones from babble are lurking
around. I'm posting my 20 questions on the cure just
to get discussion started. Answer them or write your
own.

1) what is your favorite song?
2) What is in your cure collection?
3) Are you attracted to Robert?
4) Do you wear band shirts?
5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on
repeat for longer than an hour?
6) What do you think of WMS?
7) Have you seen Brazil and if so did those masks

8) Did the masks remind you of whatever the hell "saw

9) If Robert was an animal what animal would he be?
10) Have you seen Porl's art and what do you think?
11) Are you a fan of Alice and Wonderland, Betty Boop,
eating lemons, staying in bed, rain, cats, polar

12) Do you find your love of the cure has a lot to do
with similarities in the things you like and Robert
likes?
13) What about Lol?
14) If you could give the band one gift what would it
be?
15) Have you read the Gormenghast trilogy?
16) In one word, what do you love most about the Cure?
17) Can you explain the lyrics to Wailing Wall?

lets play Twenty Questions...
1) what is your favorite song?
my goodness, where do i begin? if i had to choose just one song, i=
=20
would probably choose "trust." and if i told you all why, i would write an=20
incredibly long email because it has to do with an exgirlfriend of mine and=20
relationships and romantics and trails of tears, so on so forth. and im onl=
y=20
assuming that you all would really care not to know the details. so lets=20
just keep it at that. its an amazing song. the entire album is amazing. i=
m=20
somewhat appaled that "doing the unstuck" isn't really a main stream Cure=20
wish-list song. perhaps im wrong, i dont know. but anyway, i think i=20
answered the question.
2) What is in your cure collection?
(sigh) i have every single album and single there is, legal and=20
illegal. i have a couple bootlegs and some videos. i would LOVE to get my=20
hands on the vinyl singles from "wish."
3) Are you attracted to Robert?
well, i am a guy, but that doesn't mean i dont find robert smith=20
damn sexy. lets face it, if i were a girl, i would want to run my hands=20
through his hair. but if society permits it, hell, i wanna do that as a guy=
!=20
i think over the years, robert smith has kept his physique in check, but he=
s=20
gettin' a little pudgie, dont you think? well at any rate, yes, i am=20
attracted to robert smith.
4) Do you wear band shirts?
this is difficult because i buy Cure shirts galore, but i never see=
m=20
to wear them. i, however, make my own Cure shirts. and those i do wear. =20
out of all the Cure shirts i own, i probably wear the bloodflowers shirt the=
=20
most often.
5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on
repeat for longer than an hour?
actually, no, but i can understand how someone could bring=20
themselves to that point in time. its completely understandable and very=20
reasonable. i mean, its a good song, a very good song. and i have listened=
=20
to it over and over and over before, just not for an entire hour.
6) What do you think of WMS?
i honestly have no idea what that is.
7) Have you seen Brazil and if so did those masks
remind you of the ones in the Hanging Garden (I
think!)
=A0 =A0 video?=20
nope
8) Did the masks remind you of whatever the hell "saw
you look like a japanese baby" describes?
nope
9) If Robert was an animal what animal would he be?
if he were an animal, i picture him as a panda bear. i dont know=20
why, i just do.
10) Have you seen Porl's art and what do you think?
its actually not bad. it reminds me of transcendentalists and they=
=20
whole wannabe-stream-of-consciousness shpeal.
11) Are you a fan of Alice and Wonderland, Betty Boop,
eating lemons, staying in bed, rain, cats, polar=A0=20
=A0 =A0 =A0 bears?
yes, alice in wonderland is the best. betty boop, shell always be=20
that lovely dovely girly girl. lemons are nice i suppose, but i would much=20
rather have pink lemonade. staying in bed for me is something different=20
because i have trouble sleeping. i love rain; this goes back to the ex=20
girlfriend, relationships, romantics, thing i mentioned earlier. cats, i=20
have never owned a cat personally, but i have always liked my friends' cats.=
=20
i wish to own one someday, but i cant handle cat hair. my allergies i=20
suppose. and polar bears? wha??
12) Do you find your love of the cure has a lot to do
with similarities in the things you like and Robert
likes?
probably not. i like the Cure because i think the music, for the=20
most part, is so surreal it just takes over. i get that feeling sometimes=20
when im listening to fascination street, for instance, driving two thirty in=
=20
the morning, down some deserted superhighway. i just want to fly.
13) What about Lol?
i hate "lol." and half the time, when people type it, theyre not=20
even laughing. in fact, theyre not even scoffing or hinting at the=20
possibility of a laugh, let alone a laugh out loud. its ridiculous, if you=20
ask me. oh, and then aol 6.o had to go and put those=20
already-made-happy-faces on the instant message things. and why is that? =20
'cause people are getting lazier and lazier. (sigh) its all down hill from=20
here.
14) If you could give the band one gift what would it
be?
one gift for the Cure eh? probably a performance with the rest of=20
my band members. im in a band, called Kupaton, and we cover some Cure songs=
.=20
we covered "doing the unstuck" and i think its an unbelieveable cover. so=20
yeah, i would honorably perform that song for the Cure. of course, i could=20
never replace, nor try to replace, the wonder lyrical style of robert smith.=
=20
15) Have you read the Gormenghast trilogy?
no, i have not, but i have read reviews. cant remember off the top=
=20
of my head if those reviews were positive or negative. =20
16) In one word, what do you love most about the Cure?
in one word? you must be joking. i cant describe what i love most=
=20
about the Cure with just one word. but ill give it a shot: surreal
17) Can you explain the lyrics to Wailing Wall?
nope
18) Are you bipolar or do you want to be?
no comment. what kind of a ridiculous question is this?
19) Have you dreamt about the cure?
of course. i dream about them and their songs quite often actually=

I asked Nancy exactly this question a few days ago. Here's what she said:
"Babble seems to have quietly disappeared sometime last fall. Even though it
was my list, I don't know what happened to it, the server that was hosting
it no longer was accessible."
For such a huge list as babble was you'd need a server that can handle a lot
of traffic and a good virus scanner running on the server. Unfortunately
these don't come cheap. Then you could forward the mails automatically so
that people receive mails throughout the day.
You want more traffic here? Ask everybody to introduce him/herself! You'll
have a 150 mails tomorrow ;)

greetings,
does anyone know where i can get sheet music (piano) for the Cure? ive seen
the "wild mood swings" collection, and a few others. but i am particularly
looking for "disintegration," "wish," and maybe "kiss me kiss me kiss me."
does anyone know if they even HAVE sheet music for those albums? is it
possible to purchase them, say, at a book store or on line perhaps? a
response from you would be appreciated . . . Thanks

All US Domestic releases on tape, various on CD, a couple imports, a few
rare mp3s, a video, and 25 t-shirts plus about 10 posters.

What do you mean by attracted?

It is exactly what they wanted to do... it has a fitting title, it is very
un-cure, and has some really good tracks on it. (jupiter crash, mint car,
treasure, gone!)

I'll jump in on a few of these...
>1) what is your favorite song? (or three?)
To The Sky, Push, Halo
But this list certainly isn't carved in stone.
>2) What is in your cure collection?
All the albums except 3IB, Concert, and Entreat. A handful of singles
(including Close To Me/JLH/Primary--a favourite). The b-sides. A
bootleg from '95. Four (or five?) soundtracks.
>3) Are you attracted to Robert?
In a certain way.
>4) Do you wear band shirts?
To bed.
>5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on repeat for longer than
an hour?
Yes in fact.
>6) What do you think of WMS?
When I first got it I listened to it nonstop for about 2 months. It's
fun, but not a favourite.
>10) Have you seen Porl's art and what do you think?
Interesting.
>11) Are you a fan of Alice and Wonderland, Betty Boop,
>eating lemons, staying in bed, rain, cats, polar bears?
yes, no, yes, yes, YES, yes, yes
>16) In one word, what do you love most about the Cure?
Release.
>18) Are you bipolar or do you want to be?
Bipolar, no. Bisexual, yes!
>19) Have you dreamt about the cure?
Yes. Mostly to the tune of Pictures of You.

1) what is your favorite song?
oh gawsh...i can't choose! i truly love so many cure songs...they all play a role in the soundtrack to my life. my current faves are a night like this, just like heaven, birdmad girl, out of this world, inbetween days, mintcar, edge of the deep green sea, &c. &c. &c. i'd have to say my favorite album is km!x3, because it was one of the first i ever bought (along with inxs' kick)!
2) What is in your cure collection?
all of the albums - except entreat - on cd. most of the singles on cd. the km!x3 limited edition vinyl with the orange bonus record. regular US vinyl issues of km!x3 and disintegration. a weird clear vinyl pressing of to the sky. a freakload of mp3's that' i'm progressively burning to cd-r's.
3) Are you attracted to Robert?
somewhat. i think he's cuddly-cute.
4) Do you wear band shirts?
no, not yet. regular t-shirts aren't form-flattering.
5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on
repeat for longer than an hour?
yes!
6) What do you think of WMS?
i like it. i really bonded with the album last summer. mintcar was my themesong!
7) Have you seen Brazil and if so did those masks
remind you of the ones in the Hanging Garden (I
think!) video?
lol no!
8) Did the masks remind you of whatever the hell "saw
you look like a japanese baby" describes?
haha no!
9) If Robert was an animal what animal would he be?
a schlumpy little raccoon.
10) Have you seen Porl's art and what do you think?
i like porl's work.
11) Are you a fan of Alice and Wonderland, Betty Boop,
eating lemons, staying in bed, rain, cats, bears?
i really dig alice. majorly. in all her incarnations, but perhaps especially the disney one.
i quote the jabberwocky a lot, even though it's rarely relevant to anything. 'twas brilling ...and the slithey toves ...did gyre and gimbel in the wabe...all mimsy...were to borogoves...and the momeraths out grabe...
12) Do you find your love of the cure has a lot to do
with similarities in the things you like and Robert
likes?
it's not a conscious connection, but yes, probably. i think robert and i see the world through a similar lens, which is has a lot to do with why i dig his work and why we have certain interests in common. i don't like to idolize celebrities and maintain relatively little interest in their personal lives, but i have to say i was pleasantly surprised when i learned of robert's disneyland addiction. ;o) it explained a lot.
13) What about Lol?
i don't think about lol that much.
14) If you could give the band one gift what would it be?
dude, i dunno! a large cheshire cat plush from the disneyland emporium???! ;o) i think i've given enough for now...i go to their shows and buy their records! ;o)
15) Have you read the Gormenghast trilogy?
no!
16) In one word, what do you love most about the Cure?
there are so many words that can positively describe them for me...i guess i can sum them up with the word 'accessibility.' the cure speaks my language.
17) Can you explain the lyrics to Wailing Wall?
dude, no!
18) Are you bipolar or do you want to be?
i am bipolar.
19) Have you dreamt about the cure?
yah, i've had dreams in which cure-ish elements have appeared. i can't remember much of those dreams, tho.'

1) what is your favorite song?
hmm.. depends upon my mood of the minute/hour/day/week/month/year... but for
the most part 'M' and 'charlotte sometimes'--its a tie.
2) What is in your cure collection?
http://www.plasticpassion.org/discography.html
that is the link to my website that has my collection on it. i have bought
a few more things recently, but have not listed them due to the fact that i
am going through an endless divorce where my ex is trying to say that my
cure collection is his. 80% of my collection i had before i got married,
10% i have bought after i left him, and the other 10% he gave me as gifts!
3) Are you attracted to Robert?
depends which robert you are talking about... late 70's - 80's robert--YES!
90's to present--not as much the looks, but the person.
4) Do you wear band shirts?
no. do i own band t-shirts--YES. do i ever wear them, not really. i used
to. i have quite a bit of cure ones. if they weren't so HUGE i would wear
them, but when they finally make band t-shirts that are longer then the
babydoll t's from bloodflowers (i have a long torso) and smaller then the
normal large's, then i will start wearing them again.
5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on
repeat for longer than an hour?
if i had had it on CD when i first bought it, yes i would have put it on
repeat. my cassette of kiss me x3 is very very very very worn out on that
song.
6) What do you think of WMS?
IMHO--it sucks. I do admit to liking a couple songs on it, but to me (and
this is MY opinion) it is their copout album. i am sure i will get flamed
on that one, BUT i understand that artists can do different sounding music
BUT this album just does not flow. all their other albums flow so nicely,
this one gives me a headache if i listen to it all in one sitting.
7) Have you seen Brazil and if so did those masks
remind you of the ones in the Hanging Garden (I
think!)
video?
have not seen it.
8) Did the masks remind you of whatever the hell "saw
you look like a japanese baby" describes?
didn't see it, but i do have a mask exactly like the ones in hanging garden
9) If Robert was an animal what animal would he be?
a bear
10) Have you seen Porl's art and what do you think?
it is IMO mediocre. not bad, but nothing that sticks out in my mind as set
apart from other things that i have seen.
11) Are you a fan of Alice and Wonderland, Betty Boop,
eating lemons, staying in bed, rain, cats, polar
bears?
Alice in Wonderland--yes, Betty Boop-No, eating lemons YES--i used to eat
them all the time as a child.., staying in bed--very much so--many a day
when i should have stayed in bed, rain--yes, cats--yes, polar bears--yes..
12) Do you find your love of the cure has a lot to do
with similarities in the things you like and Robert
likes?
yes
13) What about Lol?
-Herman Monster on drugs-
14) If you could give the band one gift what would it
be?
true friendship--they can afford to buy everything else
15) Have you read the Gormenghast trilogy?
no, but i would like to, i just rarely find time to read--yes i know i have
time to read my emails, but that is while switching from screen to screen at
work trying not to get caught reading emails :)
16) In one word, what do you love most about the Cure?
ethereal
17) Can you explain the lyrics to Wailing Wall?
yes, but i am at work so i don't have them right in front of me (though i
could sing them all it helps to look at them) and i don't have time to look
them up online. i will try and post later on this
18) Are you bipolar or do you want to be?
HELL NO! my boyfriends daughter's biological mother is bipolar. i wouldn't
want to be like her.
19) Have you dreamt about the cure?
yes...
20) How do you picture Robert's house?
cluttered, it has to be for him to find things (songs...etc..) that he did
years ago and forgot about.
~eiregirl
ps i like the idea of this list not being so moderated, that is why when
imoved last year i didn't resub until babble went down.

2) What is in your cure collection?
everything, and still growing.
3) Are you attracted to Robert?
No. i can't see how everyone thinks he's sexy. he's too cute to be sexy.
4) Do you wear band shirts?

5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on
repeat for longer than an hour?

1) what is your favorite song?
Charlotte Sometimes
2) What is in your cure collection?
The albums plus a few concerts
3) Are you attracted to Robert?
In a weird way maybe, I don't find his features
attractive, but he seems quite a presense, I don't
know if attracted is the word
4) Do you wear band shirts?
occasionally
5) Have you ever listened to Just Like Heaven on
repeat for longer than an hour?
no, though I sometimes repeat figurehead or faith a
few times
6) What do you think of WMS?
I can listen to it but it doesn't do too much for me
7) Have you seen Brazil and if so did those masks
remind you of the ones in the Hanging Garden (I
think!)
video?
no
8) Did the masks remind you of whatever the hell "saw
you look like a japanese baby" describes?
don't know
9) If Robert was an animal what animal would he be?
not sure
10) Have you seen Porl's art and what do you think?
yes I like it
11) Are you a fan of Alice and Wonderland, Betty Boop,
eating lemons, staying in bed, rain, cats, polar
bears?
I love cats and staying in bed, the others are ok
except I don't like betty boop.
12) Do you find your love of the cure has a lot to do
with similarities in the things you like and Robert
likes?
I think he has good taste, I don't think that's why I
like the cure. I think if you like someone's art
perhaps you look at the world in a similar way but I
don't know him so I don't know.
13) What about Lol?
not much opinion
14) If you could give the band one gift what would it
be?
I would want to give them artwork but I'm sure it's
been done.
15) Have you read the Gormenghast trilogy?
Yes I liked it.
16) In one word, what do you love most about the Cure?
I don't know how to explain, the songs are like their
own world.
17) Can you explain the lyrics to Wailing Wall?
I think it's about going to Israel.
18) Are you bipolar or do you want to be?
No, though I sometimes suffer from depression. Why
this question? Is Robert bipolar?
19) Have you dreamt about the cure?
I sometimes dream I'm going to see another concert.
20) How do you picture Robert's house?
I think he said it was modern, I would have pictured stone.
