Cluster Hi Hammy, here's an idea for you, that's what I did: My tacho was hanging around with just one screw to hold it, after several km of riding and ... crashes. In order to save tacho and front light in case of a future sell, I toke down the tacho, cable and light but I leave the mouting frame. I replaced the light with an after market and mount a plastic box (~140x80x50mm)on the tacho mount. I installed in the box the key cylinder (taked down from the original tacho), a neutral LED and a bicycle computer connected with a wire going down with the brake line to the sensor placed on the fork, I stick the magnet on the brake disk. An inexpensive replacement which gives all the functions of a bicycle computer but in a very light weight. If you want more details let me know. Bye. Other than the electric start and the displacement, the bikes are identical. I suspect that the suspension may be slightly softer on the 250 but otherwise, they're the same bike. However, the displacement is more than just piston and cylinder. The 250 also has a shorter stroke. > > 2. You can't make it the same type of 350 as the DR350S but you can resleeve the cylinder and use a larger piston to make a 346cc motor. It will have a shorter stroke than a 'normal' 350s, though, so the power characteristics will be slightly different. You don't have to increase the stroke to get to 350cc and in fact, I'm not even aware of any stroker kits for the motor. The best catalog for this stuff is Thumper off road. Their number is: (903) 938-0570 . Good luck! - -Chris Bruno - - to unsubscribe to dr, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe dr" in the body of the message. However with the Thumper racing 346cc kit it would accomplish the same thing only better due to the increased compression ratio. I also stock the DR350 pumper carb that would fit the picture in with this mod also. something to think about Is the that the stroke is 59+ mm which means that It would rev very quickly hmmm a very neat woods bike. It has been a very fun bike to ride. Now that the DR400z is out many 350's will change hands and will be purchased at a very reasonable cost. and what do we do when we get a new used bike, we fix it up. New plastic, performance mods etc. after all we bought it right so we can make it almost like the new one for less $$. Those who bought the new one spent $5500. + will probably do the same only it will cost them even more. I will continue to manufacture the airbox as long as it is economically feasible so keep in touch I have lots of ideas for the DR350 to make it even more fun to ride. I have an appointment with a gentleman that owns a late DR650se in mid February and will see what is involved in developing the airbox for it will keep you all posted on this issue. my best Regards Jesse - -----Original Message----- From: chris adkins [mailto:gocamp@gte.net] Sent: Wednesday, January 26, 2000 7:17 AM To: Jesse Kientz www.kientech.com Subject: Re: airbox I am interested in your air box but cant swing the price right now, and was wondering now that the 350 is out of production, how long will you continue to make it? thank you chris Jesse Kientz www.kientech.com wrote: > Hi Chris , do you have any further Questions regarding the Vortex airbox. > feel free to contact me if you do. > > Jesse Ph 541-472-0835 > > -----Original Message----- > From: chris adkins [mailto:gocamp@gte.net] > Sent: Wednesday, January 19, 2000 6:10 AM > To: Jesse@rvi.net > Subject: airbox > > also i forgot > how much does it weight > how does it compare to the cyclegear airbox > and how much is it > please send ordering information also > thanks - - to unsubscribe to dr, send an email to "majordomo@xmission.com" with "unsubscribe dr" in the body of the message. By the way, Greg Albertyn (a fine Christian fellow from South Africa) is the newly crowned National 250cc Motocross Champion and former 125cc and 250cc World Champion. 7-time Mid-East Hare Scramble Series Champion and defending Interstate Hare Scramble Series Champion Vance Earl is loving his DR-Z. He rode it all day Saturday (in the snow) to break it in and get used to it, and he is stoked. After two years aboard an FMF motored, Race Tech suspended, ultra trick RM 250, he is now a four stroke convert. He was amazed at how well the DR-Z hooked up and how much easier it is to ride than his RMs. Although the suspension is way to soft for his aggressive pace, he is very pleased with it's "action". He will spend a day or two with Race Tech certified suspension technician Steve Litz soon to dial it in. Yoshimura shipped us an exaust system today. It is one of the first they have released, and we are anxious to see what horsepower gains are available with the pipe and rejetting. Yoshimura is working very closely with Suzuki in developing a VERY EXPANSIVE selection of hop up goodies for the DR-Z. I'll keep you posted. Happy trails, Al C.
