Thanks for the inquiry and if anything changes, we > will post it > on the DR list. I talked with Mike Walburn of DualStar about this problem the other day. He went to work on it and talked Bob Henderson of Progressive to pull one of their springs off their 620 series and send it to Mike. It is one inch longer so it will take away the ability to do the lowering adjustment in the rear. It is rated at 6.2-7.0 kg. I sent my shock to Mike for the install so that he could verify personally that it works. If someone has charts of dimensions nearby here are the dimensions of the stocker rated at 6.5 kg: OD=86 mm ID=62.57 mm Length=255mm (there is plenty of room on the shock body for a longer shock provided a person is willing to give up the lowering option) Coil diameter=11.9 mm BTW, Mike is looking for a DR650SE owner in the Seattle area to beta test the DR650 stand? anyone on the list? I'm looking for some support help. What we need is some folks who can ride with Toby for a few hours during the four days for backup purposes; help plan some good routes in and around Salt Lake/Park City; and perhaps most importantly, do some photography. This is a perfect opportunity for amateur photographers to get some experience and maybe end up with a cover shot or established professionals to extend their resume. Please let me know if you would like to and can assist. I don't have a DR, but am considering buying a DR650 to use for both off-road and road use. Other bikes I'm considering are the KLR650 and (maybe) a older R80GS. I realize that the DR is the best choice of the three for riding off-road. My question is what people think of it for longer rides on the street. I plan to do some trips with 400+ mile days. (For example, Portland-Death Valley.) I can deal with the vibes, but am concerned about seat comfort. Also, does anyone have any experience with the Suzuki factory Gel Seat? Thanks for the help.
