I am posting it to answer some of the questions about the DRZ suspensions and lighten my E-mail load. Hope this is OK. Norm Mike, We are building a set of links to help the rear harshness by first lowering the rear by 3/4" and then setting the sag at 3" rather than the factory reccomended 3.75" to maintain the stock geometry, turning etc. By doing this we start off in a sweeter spot in the travel, (plusher) and effectively increase the usable travel by .75". They will also match the stock spring rate for a rider in the 180 lb range rather than the present 220 lb+ range. We will be selling them for $70.00 including shipping. These Links should be available in less than two weeks. We presently have links available that will lower the rear 1.75", but are for lowering purposes, and are not reccomended for the type of riding you are doing without purchasing a considerably heavier spring and lowering the front to maintain the geometry. Thanks for your inquiry and hope this answers your questions. Norm Suzuki DR Suspensions DR. I'd like to have the ability to connect it to a PC when I return home after a ride and download the route into mapping software to see "where in the world I've been riding" I ride in remote backcountry areas and sometimes the trails are "all over the place." Looking at a paper map it is sometimes difficult to tell which trial I'm on because the trails are close together. I'd like to get input on which mapping software will give me the most detailed information on backcountry areas (where there are no roads, just trails) and that also allows me to import GPS data so I know "exactly" where I've been. Another feature I'd need is the ability to use the map software to create a route, then upload it to the GPS for a planned ride. Any input would be greatly appreciated. They are on DVD only. Most are one state per CD. They include the ability to upload your GPS routes into theirs. I do still have some questions about what can be downloaded into the GPS III+ from the software. The Mapsource CD is amazing to me. It contains the whole US. The detail is exceptional. Its maps can be downloaded directly into the GPS. It seems most software makers are assuming you will be using their software in conjunction with a laptop.. as in car use. The new DeLorme software does mapping as you want. It is a full 3d application and you can actually go stand on a mountain and look out across the terrain on your computer.. any view. Again, I don't know how much in the way of maps, you can DL into the GPS unit... maybe only waypoints. You may need both programs. I've been on trails that dwindled away to nothing but "turn-arounds", but was able to follow the trail by watching the GPS screen. See http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gps_mapcds.html and scroll down the page. There is a photo of the GPSIII+ screen and the section of the USFS map (Mad River area!) is shown. I do the same thing you are asking (with my GPS) every weekend (or at least I did that last summer). I have perhaps 50 weekends of GPS tracks saved on my computer. With DeLorme you can upload waypoints and routes to the GPS. You can also download routes, waypoints and tracklogs (the breadcrumb trail of your day's travels) into your PC (from the GPS). The ONLY way to load maps into your GPS is with Garmin's Mapsource CD. You need Garmin's MapSource CDs if you want to load maps into the GPS. I'd say this is #1 importance. Mapsource will also handle all the waypoint and tracklog uploading/downloading.
