Do you also class > fan-mad MIDI files as an infringment :-? We do not plan any further actions with respect to other material at the moment. The subject matter of our action to defend JM Jarre and Dreyfus Music copyright is all the works composed by JM Jarre. For the rest it will depend on the proxy given to us by the rights holders of these materials. If somebody wants to adapt a JM Jarre's work, prior written approval should be obtained from the rights holders. Whatever the file format (midi, wave, real audio, mpeg3...), the quality, the duration, the purpose (commercial, free of charge, leisure...), the extent of the infrigement ("slavish" copy or not), if you put the file at the public's disposal you infringe copyright. Interestingly I don't link to anny Jarre sites. Sorry to those who have them :( My copyright notice, while only legal-ese, was prepared by a U.S. lawyer. - ------------- here's a Jarre related story from a couple months ago. my friend (who will remain nameless) was driving and playing Zoolook on the CD player real loud and was getting into it. Unfortunately he almost runs over a woman. It's Laurie Anderson. He rolls down the window to say sorry and lets her hear what is on the sound system. Expectedly she isn't very happy. - -------------- cheers nicholas kent http://idfx.com/artskool/jem Japanese Synthesizer music site # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info jarre" in the message. # Postings must go to jarre@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Oct 1997 17:25:56 +0000 (GMT) From: Falken Subject: (jarre) Change to URL for Falken`s Web / Thomas Chiverton / B5 Tech website My URL has changed to www.home.ch/~spaw1791 Please excuse me if you get this message twice. - -- Falken, feeling better !
