Things are getting...you know--- Anyway, all is basically still in place here. Aaron, and Kerri, and Brye, and Mindy are in the finals phase (they're all taking finals) right now! I am just trying to catch up (Marsha says she's busy but she decides to do all theses things, which are great, but which take time). Regan will probably (may have already) quit the basketball team---his shins are hurting and his coach won't back off from making him run, etc, like everyone else (in some respects, I understand what the coach is thinking---I just told Regan, however, that it's not right to expect someone to do something that is only going to get them more injured). I told Regan I didn't like him to start something and then not finish it but under the circumstances I would talk to the coach if he wanted me to. I hate these situations (I guess it goes with the territory). And Aaron pulled a muscle or something in his hip flexor (but I told Aaron not to dive one meter in the meet* and that we'd not work it until Christmas training). We talked with Rand last night. Rand seemed very up (what a good feeling). Rand will arrive on Christmas Eve at 12:11 pm (it will be great). We will pick up Rex this coming Friday from SLC. Rex will come in and interview with the U of U on Thursday (12/16) for the residency program that begins a year from this next year (he will spend a year doing internal medicine---hopefully in Phoenix---before doing his residency, hopefully in SLC). Anyway, we had 4 girls and Aaron and competed in the SLAP Holiday Diving Invite last Friday (12/10) and here are the results (we dove well but I am always wishing for a little more): SLAP Holiday Diving Invitational WOMEN 1 M 1. His birth, as it has been popularly determined, marks the center point of the ages, the meridian of time recognized throughout the earth. As we use these dates we pay no attention to it. But if we pause to think, we must recognize that He is the one sublime figure in all the history of the world. He was and is the zenith of the times and seasons of all men." And it's forwarded from your dear friends, the Mason's Love, Grandpa (I'm also forwarding it to some others who might like it a little). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Hi! I thought this note from Pam was rather interesting. You know I'm a "moom child". Merry Christmas everyone! Mary Lou and Chet Something to look forward to on December 22, 1999. This year will be the first full moon in 133 years to occur on the winter solstice, Dec. 22nd, commonly called the first day of winter. Since a full moon on the winter solstice occurs in conjunction with a lunar perigee (point in the moon's orbit that is closest to Earth), the moon will appear about 14% larger than it does at apogee (the point in its elliptical orbit that is farthest from the Earth). Since the Earth is also several million miles closer to the sun at this time of the year than in the summer, sunlight striking the moon is about 7% stronger making it brighter. Also, this will be the closest perigee of the Moon of the year since the moon's orbit is constantly deforming. If the weather is clear and there is a snow cover where you live, it is believed that even car headlights will be superfluous. On December 21st, 1866, the Lakota Sioux took advantage of this combination of occurrences and staged a devastating retaliatory ambush on soldiers in the Wyoming Territory. In laymen's terms it will be a super bright full moon, much more than the usual AND it hasn't happened this way for 133 years! Our ancestors 133 years ago saw this. Our descendants 100 or so years from now will see this again. Remember, this will happen December 22, 1999... ______________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________ Get FREE e-mail without paying for Web access! -- Or get full, reliable Internet access from Juno Web at just $9.95/month! I enjoy all the Circle Letters and all the e-mails I receive. As I finish this e-mail, I am on my way to see Verda....I check on her each morning. Verda, Nonie, Kay, and Ila, all have health problems. Dewey has a heart problem , but he is doing well, and Irving is on the go constantly, so he is doing all right.
