Hi everyone, I just got back from browsing around the CD bins at Mod Lang in Berkeley. Something caught my eye - a CD that looks just like the KLF Chill Out cover, but with wolves taking the place of all the sheep. Of course, the song listing is different too - but otherwise, a pretty good duplication. Yes, it's actually named Chill Out. I was about to buy it, but I thought it was probably just a mediocre compilation (it was a German import for $20, which didn't compel me too much either). If anyone's interested I can pick it up if they have it next time I'm in Berkeley, or if you live in the Bay Area you can go over to Mod Lang, buy it, and tell us all what it's like. It's actually an album by some German ambient group - obviously fans of the KLF - and nothing to do with the KLF at all. There's a review of it in the latest issue of Mixmag in the U.K (I think). I can't remember the name of the group. The review said it was very uneasy listening - found sound, noises - the hardcore avant garde side of ambient perhaps? There's a review of it it isn't a group. It is a compilation of various artists who say they were inspired by chill out. From what I heard it tends to be very experimental. With the likes of panaecea I can see why.
