To "put an end to the well-crafted song," as Beadle puts it in "Will Pop Eat Itself?" would require an apparent lack of creativity, right? Well, to just take references straight from a very bizarre and popular book, which has strange and confusing images just like KLF seemed to want, is a very easy way to do this. I just think it's kinda funny how, not only did The JAMs fail at creating poorly-crafted songs, considering how much thought seemed to go into putting their stuff together, but to really appreciate The KLF you can just listen to the music itself, and not have to be able to identify the samples you hear. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Apr 1998 09:55:20 +0100 From: MICHAEL_KENNEDY@derwentside.ac.uk (MICHAEL KENNEDY) Subject: Re(2): (klf) Chill Out - Wolf version? i bought a copy of this cd in hmv last week. it`s an ambient sort of lp but not as good as the original chill out it says on the inlay - 'credits to bill drummond & jimmy cauty. as far as i can tell there is only one track that samples klf called 'demolition desaster' by panacea i thought most of the cd was rather good # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Email majordomo@xmission.com with "info klf" in the message. # Postings must go to klf@xmission.com -- replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Apr 1998 10:20:24 +0100 From: MICHAEL_KENNEDY@derwentside.ac.uk (MICHAEL KENNEDY) Subject: (klf) acid heaven i found an old tape called citybeat - beats in time. it has a track on it by moody boys called 'acid heaven'. Well, here's what happened: In 1992, after the KLF split up, Bill Drummond (one half of The KLF) and his good friend Mark Manning, also known as "Zed" furthermore known as "Zodiac Mindwarp" and their friend Alan Goodrick (better known as "Gimpo") decided to go to the North Pole to put up a picture of Elvis Presley there, to find the Baby Jesus inside themselves and save the world. They got as far as the North Kapp where they me a lighthousekeeper who promised to put the picture of Elvis up in his lighthouse, the lighthouse on top of the world. Bill, Zed and Gimpo never actually went to the lighthouse. In 1997 they released a book about the trip, Bill writing some sort of travel report and Zed writing a sci-fi porno horror macho novel of some kind. To help you tell apart their parts, Bill usually writes in past tense and Zed mostly writes present tense apart from one bit where he pretends to be Bill (I'm not sure if he does that on purpose). Anyway, you can hear them reading small bits from the book on the hidden bonus track on LSOM2. If you want to read the book, it's (hopefully still) available from Penguin Books ISBN 0-14-026118-4 (paperback, never came out as hardcover). During the years of their friendship, Bill and Zed wrote a lot of strange letters to each other. They were published as a book called "The Bible Of Dreams", also including some strange and pornographic collages. I don't know anybody who bought this book, so it's hard to be more specific. The reason why nobody bought it is that it costs 500 pounds (~DM 1500,-) each. There were 200 copies made form nigerian goat's skin leather, and I think they were handmade. One library is supposed to have it, but I'm not sure if we know which one. Anybody know this? Sorry if these questions were answered before, I'm doing a pile of replies at the moment. Couldn't find out who was playing, but then, I didn't actually ask around much. But as we left the gardens, they played a song that sounded familiar. Lots of brass band type sounds. Took me 20 minutes to work out that the main bass line was the one used on one of 3AM Eternal remixes, Guns of Mu Mu I think, or Pure Trance. So my question is, was it someone like Acid Brass or something, and should I now kill myself out of shame for having missed it??? By the time this message reaches the list, a group of Mafia-like dictators will undoubtedly have hunted me down and disposed of me for being 'on to' their masterplan- the masterplan that, whether anybody likes it or not, they believe that "Go To Sleep" will never ever ever be pressed onto CD on the planet Earth. Marshall Dickson and Mike Dutton have been replaced by clones which are programmed to intelligently mimic human beings but subtly make the recording of this track impossible. If their artificial intelligence program should fail and allow a copy onto DAT, there is a back-up circuit in each of their left wrists which will give off a massive electromagnetic charge and wipe the master. If this back-up also fails... there is a huge explosion. The fuse is lit and time is ticking. Be very careful what enquiries you make- lives may hang in the balance... Stuart. PS.
