A good excuse would be that I have been watching the list to get a feel for the discussions but plain laziness is probably closer to the mark. Thanks must go to Whiggy for his WFTROM mix which is excellent. This is the first that I have heard of WFTROM and take pleasure at reporting the confusion, bewilderment, fright and curiosity that it has created amongst friends and family, as any KLF-related material should. No thanks to DJ KUTS for his hoax - good idea using Viagra in the title, but it was lacking in every other respect. I saved it to disk, so if anybody still wants the 4.5 minute Viva Viagra in real audio then drop me an e-mail ( pstokes@powernet.co.uk ) soon because I won't be keeping it for much longer. I've not got much of a collection (I've only got America:WTIL on vinyl other than what is fairly gettable in the stores) and I'm not too hot on technicalities, but I am interested in the path that Bill and Jimmy are following, and have a fair idea of what Gimpo must be like having spent 3 years living with a heavy drinking, drug abusing, sexually deviant Gulf War veteran with fragmented speech from Leeds who spent his summer breaks relaxing in the Bosnian peace keeping forces and bringing back little surprises to liven up Bonfire night a bit. I am also interested in the Twin Peaks connection (White Room/Black Room - White Lodge/Black Lodge) providing that there is one. Anyway I won't go on too much so have a top night out everyone. MYSTERY SURROUNDS FESTIVE KLF "HAPPENING" Those masters of mystery the K Foundation - the artists formerly known as The KLF, aka Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty - may be set to return to the live arena tonight (Thursday December 31 1998). Some posters for the New Year's Eve event at the Mass club in Brixton, So= uth London, advertised a live set by K Foundation, although tickets for the event simply state that the evening festivities will include an art installation by Jimmy Cauty. Mass itself would only confirm that the K Foundation were due to be "doing something", and would be bringing five tanks! Although Drummond and Cauty declared they had left the music industry aft= er a BRIT Awards appearance with Extreme Noise Terror in 1992, speculation h= as been rife about their involvement with various projects. As the K Foundat= ion they have recorded a version of 'K Cera Cera' and a junglist ransacking o= f the theme from calssic Western movie The Magnificent Seven called 'The Magnificent' (for the 'Help' charity album), before switching to the 2K moniker for the anthemic 'Fuck The Millennium'. The latter was accompanie= d by a 23-minute performance at London's Barbican Centre last September, th= e duo's last public appearance, plus the launching of a Millennium Crisis L= ine telephone service. The K Foundation's spokesperson remains tight-lipped about their plans fo= r 1999, saying "Bill and Jimmy haven't even seen each other for several months." However, reports of a string of other low-key 7" releases on Finnish label Kalevala and an MP3 download of part of a new hour-long tra= ck titled 'The Reason' seem to suggest Cauty and Drummond are continuing to make music together. Admission to the Mass New Year's Eve event is =A335, and it runs from 10p= m to 6am. * BEN WILLMOTT is presently conducting a full exploration of the increasingly mysterious world of Drummond and Cauty and the myths that surround them. His report will feature on music365 early in the new year. # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Jan 1999 02:21:35 EST From: TheMgnt@aol.com Subject: Re: (klf) music365 report: > MP3 download of part of a new hour-long track > titled 'The Reason' seem to suggest Cauty and Drummond are continuing to > make music together. ? Someone directed me to t2k.org or whatever it was to download this track. Personally, if it's on t2k website I seriously doubt Bill and Jimmy had anything to do with it other than influence. My winsock recently got corrupted, so I still haven't been able to get an mp3 of this viva viagra thing, which I assume is done by X$X. Can someone please email me this thing? I'd actually like to hear just how shitty this song really is :) 2. I was thinking about The Manual a while back, and who could have been influenced by it, when my girlfriend played a song by a guy named Bamboo, called "Bamboogie". It basically consists of (what I believe to be) Wanda D. (?) samples, which sound similar to the ones on the Wandaful Mix of WTIL?, plus some standard-faire loops, with a sample of KC and the Sunshine Band's "Do a Little Dance, Make A Little Love, Get Down Tonight". Very suspicious..... 3. Was reading Mixmag's Worst Singles Ever article (www.techno.de/mixmag/), and noticed Scooter doing an interesting cover of a lame barely released white label song called "Raving I'm Raving", which is a twisted rip of "Dancing I'm Dancing". The song apparently has very shtick lyrics, appropriate for a cheesy dance cover, and it also has bagpipes running in the background. It looks to have come out not too far after the manual, and I remember Scooter being mentioned on here, so I thought I'd chip in my two cents. By the way, anyone know where I can get this? Or does anyone have an mp3? Any help/info would be appreciated....
