I have 3 KLF cds. I have one with a picture of a pasture on the cover which I thought would be dance music, but if i remember right its like instumental. I also have the white room album and the justified ancients of mu mu or something like that. This was a double cd. I have only seen two KLF videos, one was the 3AM eternal and the other was one song with Tammy Waynet. I think that the song with Tammy in it was Justified and Anchent, but I am not sure. Does anyone else remember this video, I saw it like about 8 years ago or so. Bye the way, I am from indiana. Hi there, Just thought I'd email you to let you know I've had one of those top musical encounters. You know sometimes you collect loads of your favourite top stuff of the years, and more often than not, they get pushed to the back of you collection and you lose track of what you've got...Anyways, last night on the TV there was an ad, using Petula Clark's "Downtown" track. On the horizon of my mind I could make out Pet C's vocals being scratched down over a beat..."Just listen..J-J-J-Just listen to rhythmn....R-R-R-Rhythmn"...And I hoped that I still had that classic sampling madness somewhere in my flat. So I rummaged. Eventually I fond that nugget of KLF history - Shag Times on cd - almost the only item I had sense enough to buy on cd. Placed it carefully on the stereo - and ... pure musical flashback - top stuff. I remember when I first bought the cd, I thought there were only the title tracks on it, only when I got home did I realise that the BPM listings weren't for the title tracks but were untitled tracks - virtually instrumental versions of the 7 or so title tracks. Bargain. I think I bought it for about 6 pounds in Kingston around 1988 - TEN years ago. The music doesn't seem to have aged much, it still compares very well to the chart stuff of today. I'm rambling. Sorry. Just wanted to share that magical moment with you all. I hope this will inspire some of the other listees to trawl thru' their collections tonight and have a bit of a KLF-session. love it. neil # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Jan 1999 13:39:47 GMT+0 From: Ancient of Mu Mu Subject: Re: (klf) k2 plant site > Web Design Note: the person doing the site has stopped using Adobe PageMill and started > using Macromedia Dreamweaver. I should have posted this about six months ago but anyway: While I was visiting Tallinn (the capital of Estonia) in May last year I found this very peculiar CD. The title of the CD is=20 "The Best Of The KLF". Track listing and music is same as in US=20 version of The White Room (except that track 6 is spelled=20 Build A Faire!).=20 What makes this CD interesting is the quite original cover. There is The White Room in the background but not as in the original WR cover. This one has visible walls. On the top reads "THE BEST OF THE", not in *that* KLF font but close. And then there is KLF "logo" which takes about half of the cover space. The new logo is quite interesting since it s built with eleven speakers (taken from the original WR cover). It looks really weird! The back cover is basically the same picture as in the original WR but negative, so The White Room becomes The Black Room! (Yet I don t think that whoever manufactured this CD=20 knew anything about this whole White Room/Black Room thing.)=20 The CD is an obvious bootleg/pirate. Whoever printed the cover=20 should be shot. Especially the back cover is a mess. Same goes=20 with the printing job on the CD itself. The printing of the CD itself tries to imitate the original Arista WR (it even has the same catalogue number) but doesn t do that well.=20 But at least the cover is really printed and not photocopied.=20 It s odd that they bothered to do a complete new cover for=20 this since it would have been much easier justto copy the=20 original WR cover instead. But still, if it didn t have the=20 new cover I wouldn t have bought it anyway. The sound quality of the CD is excellent. Even though it doesn t look like the real thing it sounds like one.=20 I m not sure where this CD was manufactured, propably in Russia or somewhere else in the east. The back cover states that it was manufactured in 1997 so it s relatively new.=20 If you visit Tallinn you could propably find a copy of this CD.=20 I found mine in the market of Mustamaki where they sell loads=20 and loads of pirate CDs and other stuff. Mind you there was=20 only one stall with this particular CD in May 1998 so I don t=20 know if it s easy or hard to get.=20 Anyone else have this one? There's no mention of 'Ellipsis' anywhere on the page... anyone want to volunteer explaining it to me? Anyway, as far as I can tell they've taken my money, and are telling me "Title is not yet published" in both cases. Anyone got any idea when these two are probably getting published? Is it going to be 'late January' like "The Manual"? One copy of each of the 3 new books is for me, the other copy of each is/was meant to be a present for my (equally-KLF-obsessed, ) girlfriend, but her birthday was January 7th and I keep having to apologise for the delay... (although I've managed not to tell her what she's expecting yet). If I get dumped before the books arrive then I'm going to blame Bill Drummond and his publishers... Anyone got any idea when > these two are probably getting published? Is it going to be 'late > January' like "The Manual"? How have they taken your money? Did you send a cheque which was cashed? I gave my credit card details and that's not been debited yet. Anyhow I in fact cancelled my order with LBS as I got the two Drummond books from Helter Skelter in December. I can get 'The Manual' from any old shop when it comes out. Before you all ask, that's Helter Skelter, 4 Denmark St, London WC2H 8LL tel +44 171 836 1151. Personal callers only it seems. I've just been on the phone to LBS and they confirmed the books aren't out yet and the invoice was for information only. Your experience may vary though. It does not appear to be LBS's fault they say the books aren't out yet; I guess it's Ellipsis'. Either way it's still annoying. I have to say to counter what a previous poster said I found the Drummond books really interesting. If you've read Julian Cope's 'Head On' (his story of the early 80s Liverpool scene) one of the Drummond books is almost his version of that story. But shorter.
