Did I miss something? Hello all, jon thaan mmm here I've re-established a connection and will be able to read my mail regularly (in the words of Anakin Skywalker, yippee!) but now I'm expected to actually PAY for a crappy slow connection! oh, to be a student again I had to go underground for a while to make sure I passed my degree, and email was one of my biggest time-wasting activities. Anyway, that's over now, I'm a Master of Physics, and can catch up. I didn't get a good look at most of the X$X pages before they changed and haven't saved them for my mirrors archive, so if anyone did, please let me know. I managed to get the blackrom mp3s tho' and agree with the general consensus, they're crap. I don't even think they sound like ENT, let alone KLF Anyone go to the Clerkenwell Literary Festival recently? I missed most of the week but the final night was very good, the bit of interest to the list is that Mark Manning was there. He read a story he'd written as part of the pirates night, about his life as an 18th century pirate captain aboard his ship, The Fucker. Also on board where crewmen called Gimpo and Scottish Bill, with his gore-soaked kilt. Anyone who's read Bad Wisdom will have a good idea of the sort of obscene, cabin-boy-buggerring, side-splittingly-funny stuff he writes, so it's probably a good thing I was too pissed to remember much. Mail me if you'd like to know more. I suppose there's a slim chance that the story might appear in a future issue of the Idler, if they ever publish it again, otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have to take my word for it: it was great (as was the rest of the evening) Apologies to anyone who might have tried to contact me in the last 2-3 months. In terms of KLF links, there aren't any direct ones, but here's what I reckon is the easiest way of getting from one to the other: The KLF -> Utah Saints -> Dope Smugglaz Lot easier too... the Utahs had a mutual appreciation thing going with the KLF for being "the first stadium house band", and the Utahs have produced some tracks on the Dope Smugglaz album (including their previous single "The Word"). Or if you wanted to go around the houses, you could try doing it this way... Dope Smugglaz -> Malcolm McLaren -> Sylia Mason-James (Ghosts of Oxford Street) -> Pet Shop Boys -> KLF Perhaps? Since I don't think anyone's posted it before, this is what the sampler says inside: "Hawkwind 'Silver Machine' "Hawkwind's seminal Silver Machine has been remixed by The Scourge of the Earth (aka Jimmy Cauty of the KLF). The track comes ina radio friendly edit and hard as f**k 12" mix. The mix will be included on a single CD Best Of... and 3CD 30th Anniversary Anthology both entitled Epoch-Eclipse." The mix is track 17 of a 17 track CD, which is underinspiring; the swearword is censored by them, not by me. After a couple of listens, I find myself thinking roughly what I also thought of the Babylon remix Cauty did- it's dramatic and opens powerfully, but doesn't seem to get anywhere, and never seems to climax (if you'll excuse the phrase), and just tails away after three and a bit minutes.
