So - it's not plus 2.5% of 375 = 9.38 - but 2,5% of (370 - 25) = $8.625 (now using non standard SI/metric notation - but the US way) In know this is silly - but I've previously seen people on this list not taking the time needed to read the mails carefully enough (me incl.) - but always do that before you reply. The main reason for my initial mail was the simple fact that a bid in the size of $370 would not only leave the seller with an unsold item - but with an eBay fee too in the size of about 10+. Considering that the only true bid could have been as low as perhaps $50 - $100 - then that fee would be a lot to pay. regards Jesper mailto:jesperkj@vip.cybercity.dk # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 1999 13:41:58 +0100 (BST) From: Stuart Bruce Subject: RE: (klf) Space On Mon 18 Oct, Jesper Kjaer wrote: > The main reason for my initial mail was the simple fact that a bid in > the size of $370 would not only leave the seller with an unsold item - > but with an eBay fee too in the size of about 10+. Luckily I've never had to use it, and I imagine they're pretty strict about how often/how readily it can be used, since it would presumably be quite straightforward to claim a refund even on successful transactions, and that way Ebay would make no money whatsoever. So if somebody gets fleeced with a buyer who doesn't pay up, then hopefully they're not completely stuck. I don't know anything more about the source of this track, but I have a copy of the song in question- also low quality- and I don't think it's taken from an acetate. It seems more likely that it's taken from a DAT or standard cassette copy that Bill, Jimmy or an engineer may have recorded whilst the track was being worked on in the studio. The sound quality seems more consistent with tape wear, rather than acetate wear/vinyl crackle. At one point I thought the mix was being talked about for potential inclusion on LSOM2, but evidently that didn't happen. Maybe it's a contender for LSOM3 (since the other two have both started with versions of "3:am"...). The real one is more of a rust color. The main thing that confirmed my suspicions was the large gap in the last line of text that was reserved for production and copyright "KLF Communications 1990" . You will notice this if you look closely at the scanned image provided by the seller. Anyone who owns an original copy of the CD can confirm this. I hope the owner did not sell this CD knowing it was a bootleg. I feel really sorry for the person who won the auction. I bought my bootleg CD for $20 when it 1st came out and sold it for about $50 three years later. My original cost me about $100. I can't believe this one sold for nearly $400.
