Did Jimmy Cauty really paint a 'Lord Of The Rings' poster? Yes, when he was seventeen in the early seventies. It's rather well-done in a stylistic, gothic-y-looking way. "It's quite funny actually - the border is made up of Orcs climbing on top of each other up the sides, and crawling along the top and bottom. For the Tolkienesque out there, it features Gandalf with the Red Ring shining and Glamdring to hip, with Samwise and Frodo hobbits, and also three portraits of Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf and Gollum the gollum." When Pete Robinson asked Cauty about it, he mentioned that 'it was mainly student nurses who bought it'. It is signed J. Cauty at the bottom. This is one of Athena's best-selling posters, and rumor has it that they came to pick it up in a helicopter. For example, they put up a £40 000 prize for the worst artist in Britain to coincide with the Turner Prize. Then there was £1 million nailed to a wooden pallet etc There is some reference to the KLF but it's only by way of introduction and there's no depth to it at all. The substance of the programme is concerned with their 'art' projects, culminating in the burning of the £1 million and the film that they made of it. It was an okay programme but probably in the 'Watch Once' category. I have it on video. I AM A DIE HARD KLF FAN! 2) Love Trance. I got a mp3 copy of what is called "love trance" off napster. It is good quality, and has a sort of oriental theme 2 it. The line "KLF have now left the building" is said by what sounds like an oriental women. I'm just wondering if this is THE love trance! 3) Snub TV dialogue. Is the man who is claimed to be bill really him? his scottish accent is not as prominent as it is on other sources. i.e. the original 3 am eternal, JAMS and White room tracks, IGUN, radio interviews etc. I was just wondering if it's a case that he exaggerates his accent in some cases and not others, the mp3 modifies the voice (not likely i think though, otherwise the tracks would sound different) or is it a case that i'm going round the bend? lol! (well, its possible i suppose) has anyone else wondered the same thing about it? keep up the good work, and remember that cauty/drummond are THE partnership! kamps p.s. i know the answer, but just in case. is KLF,JAMS,TIMELORDS,2K et al just cauty and drummond? i say it is, but my friend disagrees with me! ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 29 Apr 2000 17:03:09 +0100 From: "Derek Knight" Subject: (klf) Q Great British Albums The White Room clocked in at 89 in Q Magazine's 100 Greatest British Albums ever... Essentially this meant house based music which would have sounded great in stadiums, had The KLF ever bothered to play them. Funnily, they created Trancentral, a fantasy world where their videos were set which looked like Castleford. Funnier yet was the fact they sampled their old material, as well as the crowd noise from U2 and Doors albums. Funniest of all? The White Room was great and they might just have filled Wembley Stadium. Evocative moment: 2,39 into Last Train To Trancentral.
