It hasn't got an obi-strip and no >extra text anywhere. All Japanese CDs have an obi strip. It contains the album name info, order number, price before and after tax, ect in case the sleeve designer didn't want to clutter up the design with this info, or in case the original language of the sleeve is not Japanese, which is often the case since much of the music bought in Japan is from import artists. Sometimes the strip is thin, sometimes thick, sometimes it's a whole cardboard sleeve but as far as I know (I have a lot of crap from Japan) it is always there, even on wierd shaped box sets. Same goes for laserdiscs, DVDs, video games (the ones in regular CD-type cases), and records. If it isn't there then someone probably just threw it away. It's just a piece of paper. Colectors (read: dorks) often keep the things but really it serves no purpose whatsoever except to make it easier to stock the shelves in Japan. >If people want to see it, I could scan it and upload it somewhere. >What do you think... That's not exactly true (the "dorks" part). As a 'dork' ;) myself I can tell you that often times the inclusion of something as silly as the sticker stating "includes the hit song xxx" can increase the price of an album. Of course only by a minimal amount (couple bucks), but to say there is no purpose to it is incorrect. - -paul # Need help using (or leaving) this mailing list? # Send the command "info klf" to majordomo@lists.xmission.com. # To post, email klf@lists.xmission.com; replies go to original sender. # KLF discography: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo-bin/discogs?klf ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 Feb 2001 07:06:02 From: "Chad Gombosi" Subject: Re: (klf) MU DJ PROMO something as silly as the sticker >stating "includes the hit song xxx" can increase the price of an album. I paid 50ukp each for my copies in early 90's and immediatly put them on tape for fear of damaging vinyl. Which is why I prefer cd, as I can pay a large amount of money and play it without too much fear. Mike ____________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I don't know about anybody else, but I haven't even had a chance to download one third of the tracks in the Kompetition folder (which incidentally I'm sure has expanded since the Kompetition deadline closed...). I'm trying to download them now, but it doesn't help that my connection to the FTP site seems pretty slow, and I don't think it's my side of the connection either. If I manage to get all the files before the deadline then I'll vote, but I don't want to vote (or even listen to any of them) before I've got them all. I'm sure that there are probably other people on this list who would be interested to hear the tracks but haven't got the time, patience or phone-bill-capacity to download dozens of megabytes of MP3s at the kind of speeds this server seems to be feeding at the moment. Is anyone thinking about burning a CD-R(OM) of all the MP3 files from the Kompetition, or possibly an audio CD-R of the most popular mixes? With the FTP site being closed down, does this mean there'll be no Kompetition 2? Is it a pre-version of the original Last Train i.e. a stadium between E-Train and Last Train? There is hardly a difference to the 008R version of Last Train despite these few instrumental passages without rhythm and all that... Ideas? Anyone?
