A controller is different from a memory card, IMO. MS made a controller, and could have shoved it down everyone's throat and offered no alternatives; people would get used it just like everyone coped with the N64's originally bizarre controller. However, they responded to demand and released what was essentially the Japanese controller. Nintendo created a problem to begin with my making such ridiculously small cards, and lo! they look like a godsend for making a card that has half way decent space (which is still too little space for some games, and a far cry from the massive space offered by the PS2 card of the Xbox hard drive). Nintendo made a mistake with the MC59, and "solved" it with another mistake, the MC251. The issue of MS's controller is far different than Nintendo's memory idiocy.

~Matt

First of all, The N64's originally bizzare controller doesn't feel like a brike.  It's underside was actually caved it so it looked bigger than it actually was.  The Xbox controller was big, bigger than even the N64's.

If I was an Xbox owner who hated the controller that came packed in with my Xbox in 2001, i'd have to shell out $$$ today to get a type-S, an added out of pocket expense. So I could say say Microsoft created a problem by making such a ridiculously large controller.  It's all in the way your word it and structure your argument.   I don't see a difference.  It's basically both companies misjudging the market and coming out later with 'FIXES' that address a grievance.    There will be consumers on both consoles who are not particularly happy having payed for something they don't really want or need.

For instance, you are big and ugly, and yet we tolerate you. Second of all, didn't just about everybody think the PS2 was ugly when it was new, and yet you didn't list that. Oh, I'm still waiting for Nintendo to correct their controller, something that Microsoft only took a few months to do. With Nintendo I am still waiting. For now to play any third party game on the GameCube it seems I use the Dual Shock 2. DVD playback is extra. Oh no, the only system to offer pack in games without raising the price of the console and you're bitching about a $30 DVD Playback Kit. Shop smart, I got mine for $20. Why are Component Video cables for the XBOX $20, for the PS2 $30, and for the GameCube just about non-existent? You guys are cracking me up. I will agree to this...from experience...Nintendo's small memory card and the huge XBOX controller equally suck. And cost about the same to replace. RS OK, so HALO really is cool :) __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. They're the same thing buddy. If you can live with a little color in your line of DVD keepcases, you certainly can live with a little color on your entertainent center. >>> Again, you fail to see what I'm talking about. I'm saying that all DVD have full color covers that covers pretty much the entire case with big titles and pictures. The top and bottom edge (the sides NOT on display) of the XBOX cases being green hardly sticks out from a rack full of DVD that explosions and such all over their covers. But the a component in the entertainment center is different. There is a definite theme. Everything is black (maybe all your components have covers with explosions and such?) with silver/gold accents. The XBOX just blends in. <<>> If it's green, it will be hidden. I can deal with colors like white, silver, or grey. They simply don't stick out in the same way a purple, yellow, green, etc... box would. I would prefer black though. <<> Like what? You are the one that said the XBOX was big and ugly? Or did you forget? I simply said it matched other electronic components. Which it does...that is NOT a mere opinion, unless you want to argue that black doesn't match black. Stryder - ------------------------------------------------------------ My GameCube is black. I got the black one because it looks nicer than the purple one. Plus it goes well with my tuner, PS2, XBOX, and CD Player. My TV is gray, but it's hardly noticeable since you're looking at the screen and not the surroundings of the screen. My record player is gray, but it's a Yamaha, so it has a good excuse. But you know, black is beautiful. I don't think they stick out, but maybe it's just me. Stryder - ------------------------------------------------------------------- My XBOX games don't stick out. Well, they used to, a bit, but when you get 14 or so they don't seem much of a problem. You know what really sticks out? My Robotech DVDs. Damn you ADV Films for ruining a DVD rack that will probably be seen by only five or so people. ;-) Function over Form rules the day here. I don't know what point I'm trying to make. But all I can say is that Treebeard looks exactly like I imagined him over 10 years ago. Now that's pretty spooky.
