Nintendo's systems have four controller ports built into the console, therefore the entire userbase is capable of play four player games. This makes developers more inclined to make four-player games. People see the four holes on the face on their console and they have the urge to fill them. Even if you don't own four controllers, it is much easier to get together four controllers than four controllers + multi-tap; everyone has at least one controller they can bring around to a friends place, few people have multi-taps. alexh@ivanhoe.starway.net.au [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Feb 2000 21:25:42 -0800 From: Wez Subject: Re: [N64] Conker's BFD Nutz4n64@aol.com wrote: > In a message dated 02/03/2000 2:56:50 PM Pacific Standard Time, > Devil929@aol.com writes: > > << Read the scoop on IGN64. Fact of the matter is, while Capcom may be deemed the king of fighters, their fighters are almost always nearly identical. Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 3 Alpha, Marvel vs. Capcom, and Tech Romancer are probably the only 4 that have advanced the genre somewhat; most of the others are upgrades. Games like SSB and Fighters Destiny offer far, far more unique experiences, at least if you'd played most of Capcom's stuff. A new installment in the KI series won't happen (timing and resources issues) on the N64, but if it did, it'd really help things assuming it surpassed KI Gold in all areas and offered something new. Now if you're only looking to the N64 for fighters, a Capcom game is probably handy.... - -aldo m. If another KI game came out for the 64, it would be more of a benefit than a waste. With the with the small and poor fighting titles currently out right now, a good KI game is what any diehard fighting gamer needs. While a change in content, especially geared to older audiences and one with a sense of humor at that, is welcome, the entire concept seems more of a call to the preteen boys who think all things that don't feature blood, sex, and excessive cussing or shows of stupidity are 'stupid'. Don't get me wrong; while a few episodes of South Park are certainly funny, once the novelty wears off, the show becomes rather unbearable. I guess it really was a BFD when Conker went from extremity A to extremity Z. - -aldo m. It would be much better IMO if Rare released a different genre of a game. wez who is back to playing Crazy Taxi till his fingers bleed... ;) Cyrus5684@aol.com wrote: > If another KI game came out for the 64, it would be more of a benefit > than a waste.
