I would be surprised (pleasantly) if Dolphin sells more than PS2 but I doubt it. Nintendo can stay in the race and not lag behind Sega (a definite possibility) by lowering licensing fees: the Dolphin is already developer friendly so that's settled but the L fees could go down too, also Nintendo needs to make the system attractive to older gamers. First step to making the Dolphin cool: naming it Nintendo Dolphin >> I couldn't agree more. Nintendo: Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and Rare are great, but you can't live off them. That's my thought. If they don't get those fees down, they might as well give it up. Well, maybe not, because I really want to get the next system, but they need to be more competitive, and they have the right formula for it, too. Hope they get it right. It's more adventure type action than fighting, though (of course, there is a fight between the three birds, but it's not the main focus). There is a scene where Ash appears to have drowned, but there aren't any tears. Thing is, the Japanese version of Mewtwo Strikes Back is reportedly not as heavy handed on the morals, so Kids WB can still mess this one up in the translation. Although I feel their biggest mistake with MSB was including that "Brother, My Brother" song in the fighting scene. That pretty much sucked all the energy out of that crucial scene. As for Revelation Lugia, I will still go to see it in English so that I can follow the story better than reading the summary on Universal Pokemon Network (www.upnetwork.com). Also, Pikachu Tankentai (the animated short), although still insanely cute, is a lot less annoying than Pikachu's Summer Vacation. - -Eric- [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Feb 2000 13:16:48 -0800 From: "Geoff Taylor" Subject: Re: [N64] most annoying Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Playstation Now, of course I'm not doing this just to piss you off. But the last article concerning Videogames is rather disturbing. Page 64, titled, "Emotion Engine? I don't think so." First the author rants about how Videogames are not art. I can agree that not every game is a work of art, but some are. But the most annoying part of the article is; "Games can be fun and rewarding in many ways, but they can't transmit the emotional complexity that is the root of art." Is that the biggest load of bull you ever read? I take it either the author never played Final Fantasy 7 to the end of disc one or is a total boob. If you have already played Dino Crisis and Resident Evil 3 you may be a bit disappointed since RE2 doesn't have the 180 degree quick turn, but still the control is top notch, but since it's based on a pre-analog PlayStation series playing RE2 64 with the digital pad is a must. Wierd. "The year: 2023. Joanna Dark, a sharp and gifted young Field Operative - codename 'Perfect Dark' - is sucked ever deeper into the conspiracy that swells out from the heart of the forbidding DataDyne Corporation." Thus begins the electrifying adventure that is Rare's Perfect Dark, perhaps the most anticipated game in Nintendo 64's life cycle. The first-person shooter focuses on the shady inner goings-on of the DataDyne Corporation, which seemingly has its hands in everything from government cover-ups to alien conspiracies. IGN64 recently typed in the website domain name www.datadyne.com and to our surprise a finished, working website responded. The destination serves as the homepage to one DataDyne Corp., a company that claims interest in a long scroll of technologies including artificial intelligence, astrophysics, biological research, computer programming, engineering, genetics, nuclear physiology and more. The DataDyne Mission DataDyne is a globally focused company that seeks competitive advantage in high quality, reliable solutions for technology-based challenges. As a company, we share skills and resources among business units to optimize performance. We are committed to a plan of sustained sales and profit growth that recognizes and balances both short- and long-term objectives. By now you have to be wondering, is this company for real? We've certainly got our suspicions. A look at DataDyne's Careers page may deliver the over-the-top edge we need to certify this as a clever hoax by Nintendo. DataDyne recruits both experienced, full-time professionals and college students. The employment process for all of DataDyne's recruiting efforts includes these key steps: Pre-Screening Interview Panel Interview Reference and Background Check Medical Exam Offer Pre-Employment Drug Screen Deoxyribonucleic Acid Examination Self Defense Skills Evaluation Fact or Fiction The DataDyne Corporation offers no method of contact, delivers only a vague mission statement and lists a whole number of wacky Big Brother-like occupations and investments that coincide quite beautifully with Perfect Dark's theme. The site even features a restricted area where a username and password are required to proceed. A Hoax? Perhaps. There are too many similarities here for this webpage to be anything more than an elaborate marketing scheme hatched by Nintendo PR. If that's the case, well done -- it's all very authentic. If not, we don't suggesting petitioning the corporation for a job any time soon. At any rate, give it a look and tell us what you think -- is it for real or is Nintendo playing one over on us?
