You are playing to be the best, not to save the world. You become just as attached to your pokemon as you do the characters in a regular RPG. You name your pokemon, invest time and energy into training them. You start to rely on certain pokemon in certain situations. You start to grow fond of particular pokemon. Just like a regulare RPG, except in this one there are over 150 (soon to be 250+) different characters. alexh@ivanhoe.starway.net.au [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Apr 2000 18:11:53 +1000 From: Alex Subject: Re: [N64] RE: Mischief Makers tip/bargain hunting At 02:46 13-04-00 -0500, you wrote: >> How far did you get in Blast Corps? Building up characters is a chore, Moreso when there's no reason to even want to build them up. Not having much of a story was passable back in the day of Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior (Quest) when the genre was new, but these days it's foolish to think that those who come off playing games with some fantastically deep and/or complex stories (Xenogears, Final Fantasy 7, Grandia, Wild ARMs, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger) would ever want to go back to the time of all fighting and not much on the involvement side. If I want to play a game where it's all fighting and not much of a story I'll play a Final Fight or R-Type type game where at least I have control over what's going on.
