First, the $10 pre-order is deducted from the purchase price, and second, if TRU or EB had stacks of PSX2s in the bcak room, there'd be nobody on the sales floor. Heck, I'd be beating people up for TRU smocks to sneak in to steal a PSX2. The only PSX2s in the USA at this point are Import systems or dev kits. I, as well as all of you, I'm sure, definitely expected this to happen. Rarenet's Dan reports on it. - ------------------------ What up yo, I figured I'd send you some Rarenet worthy rumors and news while I was over here in Rare Country. I've had a number of sources confirm and deny the following but I'm not able to name them unfortunately. First up are the rumors I have been hearing of delays to big-name games and big-name systems... Rumor has it that a Banjo-Tooie delay is imminent. According to sources, NOA will be moving the game to February 2001. Most disconcerting about this news is that it is purely political. Banjo-Tooie is nearing completion and was perfectly on target to meet its July deadline. NOA then moved up Mario Tennis and delayed BT a month in a move that not even Rare was aware of. This new and lengthy delay can be attributed to the upcoming Dolphin delay. That's right, I've heard Dolphin will be delayed yet again the States. Originally planned for a quarter 1/2 release in the US, the Dolphin will be moving to a Quarter 3 and possibly even 4 (Christmas 2001) release. This unexpected delay to the system has left Nintendo scrambling to fill in its software line in early 2001. No games are in development to fill these spots and Nintendo is now delaying certain titles (Banjo-Tooie, Dinosaur Planet) so there won't be a devastating drought in games. My guess is that the BT team will finish production of the game this summer and give it to Nintendo, who will then sit on the game for months. Meanwhile the BT team will start work on their first Dolphin title. - ------------------------ I don't know what will come of this, but if Microsoft gets X-Box out before Dolphin, it is nothing good at all for Nintendo. It could just be a Microsoft smokescreen to prevent people from getting a Dreamcast, PSX2, or Dolphin so Micro or Soft can make people buy some new thing for the PC. Oh that's low. They didn't abandon the Genesis. The Genesis had an overflow period that overlapped the time of the Saturn. You could still buy a new Genesis game in 1996. Sure it was Sonic 3-D Blast & Vectorman 2, but there were still games. The Game Gear lasted until 1994, not the longest life of a console, but nothing can stop Mister Game Boy. And the Saturn, well, SEGA stayed on until the end, when everybody else, but Capcom, had left. The Saturn with its 2% market share in 1998 wasn't worth continued support in America. But it still lived on in Japan, up until the final Saturn game a few months ago from Capcom, Final Fight Revenge. Or were you talking about Pico? ;) I can think of companies that have done worse with certain systems. Nintendo and the Virtual Boy or SNK with the Neo Geo Pocket Color. I dunno. I'll get back to this after drinking time. I keep remembering a quote from Scotty on Star Trek: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". David Rhodes wrote: > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Gregory A.
