IGNCube
has maybe 3 stories a day, none of which are actual news. It's all
misconstrued quotes and shit. And now they want us to PAY for this? What
shit! Fuck them, man. Daily Radar is better then they are any day.

Dammit, they make enough money as it is on ad banners. They send thousands of
buyers to EBworld daily. And they get 5% commisions. Although, they are one
of the biggest sites to probably send to EBworld, EBworld probably gives them
6%.

"Just ask Jay and friends" (PSM Online, now IGN PSX) and such and so forth.
I don't mind registering to read a part of a strategy guide, but if they
expect me to pay it better be a good as or better offer than a Next
Generation subscription, meaning two things, first it's really cheap in
price ($12 gets you 12 issue of Next Gen) and secondly that I get something
material for my money, not just access to a web page, but something I can
physically hold and touch and I don't mean my credit card bill.

For all your dot.com's, unless you provide a service that generally sells material things (such as amazon.com), leads to selling things (something more along the lines of an online real estate agency), or has brand name behind it, making money online is a hard thing to do. Sure, there are loads of exceptions, but generally speaking, something as basic as online journalism just doesn't bring in the money. It's for that reason you see sites like Gamefan's folding, IGN having an Insider site, or, ironically enough, Cloudchaser accepting donations from readers. Having seen some of IGN's Insider material (not through my own dollars), it's not worth the $30 or even $5. It's information that, as you guys said, should be made public in the first place. It'd be as if CNN would let readers view domestic news, but in order to see what's going on around in foreign affairs, you'd have to pay. There simply isn't any rational logic behind it other than trying to make money by compromising journalistic integrity. Of course, IGN isn't as rich as you guys think...if anything, they're on their way down. They have a business statement that pretty much states the risks of their business model calling it "unproven" and one that "may fail". But then, as other have pointed out, when IGN64 or IGNCube put together the collective whole of 1 "article" on a daily basis, particularly when they get paid the whole business week to do nothing but provide content 8 hours, 5 days a week, it's not surprising. And much like you guys, I turn to other sites like Daily Radar for more and more of gaming needs. you know what? It's all free. I simply cannot see any reason to visit IGN
anymore.

I hope the worst for IGN. I hope that no one is stupid enough to pay you
fools, I hope that you guys sink faster than the Titanic, and I hope you
realize you are destroying the integrity of what the Internet truly is. Do
not confuse this letter as one of an angry gamer; these sentiments toward IGN
have been building for months now, and this ludicrous pay system merely
brings it all to a head. Fuck you and your IGNInsider bullshit.

Since this is Q&A, I do have two questions:

1.) Do you realize you are destroying everything good and pure that the
Internet stands for when you ask us to pay for this information?

2.) When did you guys at IGN decide to sell your souls?

I challenge you to print my letter. Censor my curse words if you wish, but I
dare you to print my inflammatory letter that condemns all of IGN. Do that,
and I may believe you guys have some kind of integrity.

Well, that's how I felt.
