The major problem with convergence right now, and we're talking specifically the convergence of PC like internet features such as e-mail and web browsing on consoles is that is has an extremely (and i mean extremely) limited market. Most people will see it as a nice novelty, a few may find it essential, and fewer still will find it convenient. The problem of course is that these consoles are capable of doing things a six year old pentium 75 can do as easily, and chances are, if a family is technologically inclined enough to get a high end console like a ps2 or an xbox, they have at least a pentium 75 sitting somewhere. And chances are, its not an archaic machine like that but a much more powerful one that can do the job better. It's a lot of overlap, pure and simple. sure, people are going to use these internet features on the consoles, no one doubts that, but don't expect these features to drive sales, nor will it give these console any advantage in the market.
