I agree. Actually, the only Zelda I ever had as a kid was Zelda II -- though
I loved the more traditional style of Zelda I & 3 more, Zelda 2 is very much
like SMB 2 and Majora's Mask. Of course, I never got far in Zelda 2 as the
game scared me to death as a kid and was pretty f'in hard at the time... But
nonetheless, it wa a very moody game and really highlighted the sort of
Dark/Light aspect as well as the fights.
