you know what, I hope no one bashes you for asking this because it is true,
there is nothing at the bottom telling you how to leave.
Try this:

Email majordomo@lists.xmission.com

Put this in the body of the message without the quotes:

Do you install a lot of shareware or other programs on a regular basis? 98% of the time the computer or Windows is not the source of the problem. It's what the user has done to the configuration or all the crappy software that's been installed. I realize that I have somewhat more knowledge about computers than most people (though, there are certainly plenty that know more about 'em than I do) but through the years I can say that I've never really had many problems with my PCs. I don't buy crappy, low end stuff and I don't install junk. My uptime (time since last reboot) at this moment is 6 days, 5 hours, 53 minutes. That's stable enough for me. When I do have problems it tends to be new drivers that I've installed or some other crazy bit of software that I have installed. The fix is simply to remove the crap causing the problem. Of course, I know that this isn't always the case. I have an AMD CPU... with a MSI K7T Pro2-A mainboard. The VIA chipset on my mainboard has a "bug" which conflicts with my SB Live! sound card. It's also not on par with Intel's own chipset but that's another story... until the last VIA drivers were released I had serious problems with games. Thankfully the new drivers cover the bug and games run smooth as silk now. The new GeForce2 Pro that I bought this week might be helping out a bit too. ;) Anyway, my point is that 9 out of 10 times problems with a computer aren't hardware-related or Windows... it's software that that the user has installed or the user has been messing with something in the control panel, the registry or who knows what else the user should not be touching. As for your problem, it sounds like your registry or some other configuration files were corrupted and Windows dug up an older configuration set as replacements. You could be mad that your dial-up info reverted or you could be glad that your computer was able to find a way to boot without a fatal error requiring you to reinstall Windows. You should keep your ISP information (and passwords, anything important) written down somewhere. I use a password-protect program to store all of my info as well as a seperate electronic organizer. Configurations get corrupted and hardware will fail eventually... if you don't have your information backed up, it's your fault that it's gone. :) Call me unimaginative but while my reasoning is different from yours I don't really see a need for the Gamcube to have a hard drive either. A nice big fat memory card will suffice, IMO. Maybe when more people have broadband it'll be more important, but that's a while off.
