Sure, they help, but a good go with the compter AI controlling the other three characters is enough for a quick, challenging game, especially if you put the computer on level 9. ~Matt" >> Yes you do need friends for Smash Bros. You see Smash Bros. is worth sooooooooo much more than just a quick, challenging game. Even with the computers all set on level 9 you just don't get the same interaction. When I said 3 - 6 friends to play with, I ment it. Personally I'm one of the lucky people who can say that I have those friends and I wouldn't want to play Smash Bros. any other way. When you get four people playing at a time who really get into it, suddenly the game is taken to another, higher plane. That's the only way to describe it. I mean, you need to get into it to the point where you are throwing controllers in frustration to know what I mean.... You can't do that playing against the computer and still be having fun. Seeing one of your best friends swear at the TV while pulling his controller out of the system while his little punk ass Kirby slams into the side of the screen and explodes has to be one of the funniest moments in gaming yet. That's the point I was hinting at :-) Recommendation to everyone: Either buy an N64 or a GAMECUBE or both and pick up at least one of the two Smash Bros. games. Go out and find three of your friends who enjoy playing games or make new friends who like to play games. If you are good at the game and find someone who's willing to play but sucks, TEACH THEM how to play like you. My friends have done that and formed teams and they use team combos to extend the playability of the game. It's kind of sick really. ;-) On another note, this is the ONLY game from its era that my friends and I still play RELIGIOUSLY. In fact, most of them are the kind of people who think Nintendo is kiddy but three of them bought the GAMECUBE for one reason: Smash Brothers Melee. That's how good the first one was... :-) Have fun guys! :-D * Eric * [ To quit the NGamers mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe ] [ NGamers" (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 11:07:51 -0600 From: "Elliot Jefferson" Subject: Re: [NG] EGM 150 scores Maybe it's just me, but randomly killing people anyway imaginable is not my idea of fun or entertainment.
