Can someone give me one good reason why I >shouldn't ditch this doorstop in favour of a console you can buy games I'm quite envious of PSX driving games as well - they've got tons of open wheel racing, stock car, street car, as well as a sub-genre which I call the RPG/Racer. The best example of this is Gran Turismo, where finishing races will earn you licenses and money to upgrade your career and/or your car. However, don't lose hope! 1998 is going to be the year of N64 games, driving or otherwise. Boss (Top Gear Rally) is working on another racer; World Grand Prix looks awesome; as does Rev Limit and GT Racing. Also announed (but no screen shots yet) are V-Rally and Andretti Racing. According to IGN64, there are also rumors of a Gran Turismo killer being developed by Rare. Makes you drool, eh? At the very least, keep your N64 until after the E3 in May, since that will be when a lot of new N64 games will be revealed. Expect a lot of surprise games! Besides - N64 driving games will always look better, and control better than their PSX counterparts. The analog stick is well suited to driving games, and not all PSX driving games can use an analog controller (like an analog steering wheel). matt ma [ To quit the n64 mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe n64" ] [ (without the quotes) to majordomo@xmission.com ] ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Mar 1998 11:40:45 -0600 From: John Goelzer Subject: RE: [N64] People on the List The presence of these qualities in his posts are exactly what made me wonder whether they're one and the same person; tippy's were pretty much of the same flavor and frequency. Rev Limit hasn't materialised, Lamborghini was a disappointment, Cruisin USA (fx: snigger !). There are rumours of V-rally 64 but when ?! From 10 minutes surfing this morning, I've found 30 driving games alone for the psx, most of which seem to get a good review and the likes of Need for Speed III seem to have all the features that sold the N64 to me - - reflections on car windows, wake trails through water, smoking tyres etc Seems the psx is capable of all the small touches which really make a game. To be honest, since I posted this thread, I've heard from quite a few 64 owners who are telling me to buy a psx !!! I'm not the only one who's disappointed ...
