VM Labs (right name?) are trying to sell their chipset as a MPEG chipset to companies making DVD machines - their chipset is cheaper than dedicated silicon. As an added "bonus", these companies can then sell their machines as DVD players with 'interactive' Project X compatibility. The consumer gets more 'bang' for their bucks & VM Labs get Project X into more households. That's the plan... You're not the only one. Although I find this not as necessary with PlayStation games than N64 since most PS games have great music anyway, cept for Gran Turismo. Like in San Francisco Rush on the N64, they knew their music sucked so it great to play my own music (Grateful Dead) and still hear the sound effects. More games should have this feature. I'd like to see a system with stereo audio inputs on the system itself that would let you play your own music instead of the game's music if you wanted to. I know I'm just dreaming but it would be cool.
